He's more ballet than full contact, I'll give you that, but he's very young and JK seems very keen on him...I will bet that he's on that WC squad.

For me I think JK has already settled on Bradley, Jones, and Beckerman if they are healthy. No Cameron for MF...to ponderous on the ball and his first touch in tight quarters is disastrous. If we do play a 4-2-3-1 I can't see Mix being one of the two but in the middle of the three. Perhaps Evans could be tried as on of the MF 2 in a pinch or FJ.

this is a good point. against bosnia, diskerud started forward of bradley and jones. that was basically a disaster. against mexico, he replaced EJ and dropped underneath dempsey - basically a defensive substitution as we had the lead.

further, JK chose not to use him off the bench when we were down goals in costa rica.

diskerud apparently currently has a spot as a defensive replacement for one of the central attacking positions... which is kind of a bizarre niche for him... and also kind of a luxury

ultimately, mix probably has a little work to do to convince JK that he can trust him in a 2 man midfield or value him as an offensive option when we are down a goal

Kjelstan better get one half each in these next two qualifiers. We need to figure out optimal pairing for Bradley. Bradley is offensive, his partner must be defensive. NO SWAPPING.

I'm betting JK would take Mix to Brazil instead of Kljestan. I like Mix, he thinks fast, plays quick and is creative... He's a toothpick, but he's gradually improving his strength on the ball. I think he's purely offensive mid depth.I think with Mix's vision and quickness he's capable of more brilliant, potentially game changing moments than Kljestan.

Kljestan's only role on this team could ever really be the other c midfielder beside Bradley who would play defensively and let Bradley get forward the entire game. As long as Kljestan can succeed at that better than Beckerman, he is set for Brazil.

JK has proven his affinity for DMs. he will take (at least) one of:
- beckerman, williams, edu... have combined to start 39 games for JK

beckerman has the inside track at the moment

kljestan is not a pure DM - which is why JK has not valued him since he came on (1 start) - and is not really in competition with the DMs

yes, kljestan needs to demonstrate defensive aptitude to find a spot, but there is no way JK does not bring 1 of beckerman, williams or edu

not going to happen

No need to even mention Edu. Or Williams. It's a matter of Beckerman. And if Kljestan can provide that role better than Beckerman, then yes, his high level of play and speed vs. Beckerman will take his spot.

i disagree that kljestan and beckerman are competing for the same spot

kljestan led yanks abroad last season in assists. kljestan has scored 4 goals in his last 5 games. kljestan recorded 35 assists in 4+ seasons at chivas.

kljestan is not going to all of the sudden leap over beckerman (and williams and edu) because of his defensive prowess

i GUARANTEE JK brings a back-up DM and kljestan is not a DM

again
beckerman / edu / williams - 39 starts under JK
kljestan - 1 start

JK is not suddenly going to abandon his love of DMs (for f@ck sake, beckerman just started in dos-a-cero v mexico)

Guys, Beckerman is not making this roster. He can get by againats bad CONCACAF teams, but he can't hang with the better European, African, and South American teams. Keeping my fingers crossed Klinsmann realizes this.

The 4 CMs should be Bradley, Jones, Mix, and Kljestan. Personally, I have no problem with Cameron, who will be listed as a defender, as the sole DCM option on this squad. The only other DCM that has a chance to make Brazil is Williams, and I just don't see it. Edu was garbage even when he was playing.

Beckerman gets exposed against quick players he is who he is. JK likes his defensive attributes in the middle as a late game sub, so Id say unless SK really impresses with his limited minutes Beckerman probably makes the roster. Again personally SK paired with Bradley has always worked well. Id like to see more of it but I dont know if JK does as he really loves him some Jones. So expect SK to sit on the bench and get 20 minutes if that and he has to perform and perform big to unseat Beckerman.

Agree, I've said on these threads more than once I think our WC CM's are those four guys. And with those four guys we would be best off.

Like it or not fellas, Beckerman is a lock. JK loves him. Watch some of the pregame interviews with JK and listen to how he gushes about Becks. And the start against Mexico says it all. Edu I can't see. He did play a lot early for JK but with no game minutes and no inclusion on recent rosters, no chance. I'm seeing Bradley, Jones, Mix, and Beckerman. Just seems to be JK's formula.
