@Ohana did you notice how in his last USA performance against Mexico in 2011 GC Final that all the Mexican media raved about how he was by far the best player on the field lol?

@bjelks: Did you read what I originally posted? Your point is probably valid but I don't see how it relates to mine. nd

You do realize that it took our USMNT almost 80min to score a pretty soft goal to a Honduras squad that was missing FOUR key players..... Just saying. Not that Adu should or would have played but we didn't exactly look like freaking Spain tonight lol...Just saying. Glad for the 3pts but ummm yea people keep forgetting IF WE PLAY LIKE THIS NEXT YEAR..whats the point of going???

@Alcharod Couldnt agree with you more. If you have trouble scoring against a weakened Honduras team at home, how do your think your gonna do against Argentina or the Dutch or any top 15 team in Brazil? Yes, good game last night we had many chances to score but poor service and finishing in the final third is a real concern.
We could use the help of Donovan, Adu, maybe Gatt and a player like CD9 before his accident. Boyd should be given more of chance. Our defense needs a MIX of the younger guys playing now and some of the older veterens like Dolo or Boca and really shouldnt Chandler and Lichaj be given serious looks? If not we are gonna have serious defensive gaffes that will send us home from Brazil in a hurry.

off topic, but you guys do realize attacking against 10-11 defenders (Honduras) can be more difficult than attacking 8 defenders of a better team.

All teams have this difficulty at times, the important part is finding that moment to score at some point and being successful at it.

Honduras does not equal Tahiti. If we did play Tahiti last night with the same lineup, I'm sure we would have put up 5.

Thank you mojo. Why is it that everytime the team struggles, time to bring in Adu time starts. Honduras was so overly defensive, it was obvious they were playing for a draw. I'd understand if we created no chances but we did. Also it was a win, why the automatic panic? If Demps was on his game he could have had a hat trick.

We didn't really struggle. Struggling is when you are fighting not to lose. We were not struggling. We weren't clicking in the first half too well but there was never a real threat of Hondruas running one over us. And we had plenty of chances (two great header opportunities, a PK blown, and two shots other than Jozy's that were scoreable) that either due to good GKing or not finishing we didn't make.

Hardly a struggle. Formations tell the tale. Honduras was packed in the back like a can of sardines just begging for a tie.

O ok so all Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Brazil, Germany, Argentina, etc have to do is just play overly defensive v the USMNT....they now have the blueprint huh.. lol? We struggled v HONDURAS because they played defensive, yet had some decent shots on goal...we have NO CHANCE vs a powerhouse who mirror's this? Your basically saying we have no shot lol....

Ekneezy, my post was not for anti Adu purposes, just explaining something about the sport that some people have seemed to have forgotten or never known in the first place.

Alcharod, a powerhouse would never play bunker defense against the USA, they don't have to. They'd have a better shot if they simply play their usual style which is what they will do until we become a top team. Bunker defense is used when the team you're playing is simply better than you, it's not something used when you're playing an inferior team. Your post was a bit confusing, maybe you knew/know this, but with all the 'lol's' I'm not sure.

Mojo you and I have not got along to well in the past, but yes I do know this info...I'm simply stating that a superior team should play a little bit better then a team that did not have 4 starters... And if push comes to shove and a team just needs to play goal differential then we really have no chance. That can happen with stronger teams that just want to coast to the next wrong.

Alcharod,

Same could be said for Honduras in San Pedro Sula. They played against an American team that had barely gotten off the plane in their absurd heat in the middle of the day with a backline that had never played with each other, and hasn't played with each other again. So you could say we were missing starters there and they barely won.

Not trying to be rude, but still don't understand what you're getting at.

Playing goal differential? As in trying to score a lot of goals? Do you mean it as trying to score and then bunker?

Anyways, not sure if we even disagree on anything here.

Cheers

Back to Adu.

The fact that we still have an ongoing Adu thread shows how much we are lacking in soccer knowledge in this country. Does he even unpack his stuff when he joins a new team? The guy has played how much the past 3 years? Get over Freddy please, it's embarrassing.
For I am creator of all things soccer. Seek repentance or just beat Mexico, either will get you in up here.

For the most part this thread is going because people like you bash the thread, then people defend the thread.

and then I post something like this which is pointless.

Exactly...... It the cycle will continue and they will still bash and they we will still defend. They don't get it, that if they just shut the hell up, it would be a soft convo we'd have our say, and then move on to more current topics.

Mojo, I am hearing though that their MIGHT be trouble in ADU land though.

I pretty much just visit this thread for the novelty of it now. So much contradiction and anger....it's really pretty damn funny:

- Won't lie there's a cycle, but telling people to "shut the hell up"? Kind of defeats the purpose of the debate nature encouraged on these boards. Especially when both sides have valid points.
- Soft convo....OK. This has not and will never be a soft convo. And a reason will be found to continue the rants and not move on to other topics. There are over 100 posts on this thread, not to mention the several other Adu boards.
- A half-credible defense of Adu is followed by an article that does nothing to defend him. Maybe should've let that one go?

But hey, everyone needs excitement in their day, don't they? I know I do. It's part of the reason I'm posting - plus SoccerGod's on here. I've said it before, but the kid's development and return to former greatness should be on topic, not his involvement in the national team - it ain't happenin'. At least not anytime soon. I truly wish him luck, but he's got to lock down PT.
