Personally, I cannot wait for the inevitable 30 for 30 on Freddy. It's just too bad that they've already used the title "the best that never was."

I will totally buy that 30 for 30. "The best that never was II".

I'll admit I didn't watch a lot of Freddy in the MLS but heard he played up to par for the league at least.

I know a lot of you think he should retire/drop to NASL, etc, but was he really that poor in philly that you doubt he could replicate that form again? Not saying he should be a DP but I'd be shocked if he couldn't at least help a team as a roster spot.

Thoughts from those that watched his philly years?

Pretty concerning to me that he wasnt able to even get on the pitch for his club in Serbia. Considering that the club was paying him some pretty decent wages tells me he has some work to do to get back into match fitness. I also think that he peaked a couple years ago and at this point I am not sure if he is mls quality Nasl might be in his future if he wants to stay in the game. Not playing much in brazil or serbia he is going to have put in a lot of work and cut his salary demands way down to get back to mls in my opinion. Also somebody just edited his wikipedia page btw or even wikpedia has gotten a lot blunter then I remember lol.

From even before the time of his signing with D.C. United, Adu was spoken of and treated as the future of United States football;[3] even being referred to as "the next Pelé".[4] No one, however, considers him to have lived up to those expectations.

Dude can probably still play at the MLS level but, as previous people have stated he needs to reduce his salary demands. Secondarily, once he finds the right situation, he needs to play some damn defense. He hasn't always appeared to expend as much energy on that aspect of the game and that's just not really acceptable of footballers these days. Shoot, that Ws one of the reasons Mourinho sold Juan Mata.

I wonder if he and Aguedelo share the same agent? Shame really...I suppose he could do a guest spot on the Kardashians.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with NYCFC or in the Indian Super league.

Lewis already knows about him from the RSL days, so idk how likely an NYCFC move would be especially given his gargantuan salary demands.

Australian and Chinese Leagues throw money at aging name recognition. Maybe they'll get him some playing time.

I'd say Freddy's agent is damn good. Despite almost no playing time and not having a dominant performances in years Freddy kept getting signed by multiple clubs. I'm not sure what more you could ask from Freddy's agent.

If I remember correctly the fallout with the Union was that Philly wanted him to agree to a non-DP contract and Freddy was having none of it. He was on half a mil at the time.

I have no idea how much he earned at Bahia and Jagodina and he clearly has less value now than when he left Philly but it wouldn't surprise me if he's looking for an absurd number because his name is valuable for marketing (which is certainly true to some extent).
