He could be NYC2 first DP or a big name for the Cosmos but he definitely needs some stability

Cosmos yes. But DP ??? are you serious or joking. He might not even make half the teams in mls, not even good enough for mls. Id say usl/nasl or some lower table MX team. Or back to the 2nd division of turkey good lord.

Im not saying he should be or will...NYC2 wants a big name American DP right... Adu may not the best player but he would definitely bring a big name value even if he is not worth it

No way in hell he gets a DP contract from anyone in MLS. That would be a terrible move.

Looks like teams in Mexico are looking at him though

I really have to wonder whether his career is over. What moronic team would ever take him for anything 6 figures, might as well light your money on fire.

Scrubbed out . . . . again.

Step one. Find a team you will be able to start on. then play every week.
Step two. Keep you mouth shut and your nose to the grind stone. Work hard, when you get tired. . Work harder.
Step three. After a successful year or two, find a better team you will start on. Repeat the process.

At this point I feel he is going to need to know someone to get a job. He should call in his chips, there has got to be a coach somewhere who still believes in him. There are clearly other players who do.

People who think he could go to Sunderland are delusional. The EPL is the total opposite of his style and it's way too fast-paced. It's also way too competitive...this is someone who couldn't make it for teams like Belenenses and Bahia. No way he could play for an EPL side.

Liga MX was where I was hoping he'd go all along. The style of play fits him well and I think he might be good enough to get PT there. But I'm not holding my breath.

According to the article, BTW, he was a total professional while he was there but just wasn't technically good enough. This might be surprising to some but the truth is that in Brazil or even Argentina players like Adu are a dime a dozen. Every player there has that much skill on the ball. Adu stands out here because compared to Americans he's a wizard but over there he's not any good.

If Adu is lucky he'll get picked up by a Mexican team. If not, he'll probably end up back in the MLS since I don't think any teams from lower-tier European teams would take him. He has name-recognition in the US so he should be able to get a decent salary somewhere. After that he'll get released and end up with a much lower salary before he loses interest and washes out in his late 20's.

My dream though is he actually gets PT for a Mexican team and somehow makes his way into our squad. Aint gonna happen though.

If your a desperte coach who knows next year is make playoffs or bust (Arena? Olsen maybe?) Then I could see them bringing him in. If it works out your lauded for finally connecting to Adu, and if it doesnt you were getting fired anyway and can use him as your excuse for future interviews. A win win

Wait so which is more probable, Luis Gil shakes off the MLS mildew and becomes the 3/4ista that we all hope for, and makes the WC roster.

Freddy Adu signs with, insert MLS team here, performs admirably then gets a call up to the nat for the WC roster.

Junior Flores, aged 18 plays his first game March, becomes a regular in their lineup and a starter by the end of the year replacing the Armenia playmaker at the moment, and he gets a call up to the WC roster.

I think he will get another job. I think Bahia is way out in space right now. Looking at their record in the past 15 games they have 2 wins, 5 draws, and 8 losses. If those players with that record are "Superior" lol....well then Adu might as well go and sell coconuts and oranges on the highway....

I simply believe the management at Bahia is actually worse than my Miami Dolphins AND THAT IS SAYING ALOT lol... 3 managers in months, they were in turmoil equivalent to the Mexican National Team. I'm sorry but how is it that Bahia beat writers on twitter on numerous occasions have said that he was by far the best player in practice, and scoring tons of goals for the practice squad.

Something is just off. Again i keep in contact with one of the more known beat writers for Bahia, and he simply believes that its not that the players are superior in talent...but like most of you say about Adu, the coach is defensive minded, and Adu does not track back for Defense. They also say that is not a real problem, because he is a forward, and not obligated to tracking back that is just a managers style that he does not mesh with....

Adu simply isn't good enough to be on a tier 1 team anywhere. Way too much expectation on his shoulders that he can never escape. He needs to go somewhere nobody knows him (as in NOT the USA) and just try to do his thing.

Ascension MX maybe.

Though i think he could play at Sunderland, I'd like to see him go back to Turkey play in the 2nd tier. I mean it was there where he did enough to surprise the world and make that Gold Cup team where he proved that though he isn't the best club player, when put with his peers on the USMNT he's exactly what we need. I think that will be his life for a very long time... Low level clubs, show brilliance get a call up, move right back down after....
