Initially I figured Yedlin or Farrell would be the top contenders for rookie of the year, but Jahn probably is the front runner now

San Jose Earthquakes are the only "american sports style" soccer team in the league

It's so hard to make a come back in soccer yet the earthquakes do it every time, also seen in basketball, football, and baseball.

I love when the fans rush the players when they score.

Cant wait for the new stadium.......

My vote is still for Yedlin but Jahn is closing in. The bay area loves Jahn since he's a stanford product.

You know how in american sports, there's always a chance for a last second comeback? Football - hail mary or game winning field goal, Baseball - Walk off home run in the 9th inning, Basketball - Buzzer beater shot

Well soccer isnt a sport where you see that happen a lot. You might see a team do it occasionally but not on a consistent basis like you would in American Sports. San Jose Earthquakes are doing this almost every game as they did 9 times last season. I dont see any other MLS team or soccer team from any other league doing this.......

There's nothing American about comeback victories. It happens all the time in soccer too (and this is soccer we're talking about). And there are other teams doing it out there right now. ManU, for example, has been constantly doing this the past couple seasons (usually after playing like crap).

I wonder if San Jose offloads Lenhart or Gordon. They have 4 quality MLS forwards, they could maybe trade one in and help with other weaknesses on their team.

If they do, I'd rather see Gordon go.The glaring weakness is the Quakes need a better option at ACM, a player that can really pressure a defense. They also need another high level CB to pair with Bernardez. Baca is a great distributor, but he isn't a threat if the flank options are shutdown. They brought in Martinez, but so far he doesn't look like a big improvement over existing options.

The next test for the Dooley-led revitalization of the Philippine national team kicks off soon.
