That we couldn't beat Canada? Yeah, admittedly.

That fans (and media) grossly overestimated the quality of this team and the instincts of a college coach who's used to planning his tactics around the ability to have unlimited substitutes? Not one bit. US soccer fans do that better than anybody else in the world outside of England...

The El Salvador draw is even more shocking. I felt the boys would pull together. But when you lose the games you are supposed to win, it makes these games against tougher opponents that much trickier. It feels like this has been the story of US football since 2006 or so. But still, the fact we are now expecting good results shows how far our national team, from the U20s up, has come.
