Bradley is one of the best players on the starting 11 right now. He will not lose his place.

Just because Holden is going to get called in to camp does not mean he is starting. Hes probably not even at 80% healthy. I don't really understand the call up with him not being fully fit and the limited games.

If anyone is going to lose their place its Edu or Danny Williams. Hertha Berlin is promoted to the Bundesliga next season and that means Alfredo Morales is going to finally have his shot on the team.

Klinsmann is big on positive thinking and Holden has that attitude (it's the only way he's been able to come back from these injuries). I think a lot of this is for team chemistry. I think people are a little too optimistic though...who knows if he can ever be the player he was and he's going to playing Championship ball at best until the World Cup. The other thing is that we have so many central mid. We don't really need another one. At the highest levels he's a CM, not a winger.

F*ck that

Good bye to Michael bradley's playing time. Let him come in as a sub

Stu needs to keep fit with the dynamo and maybe hit up a loan spell

This post made me laugh! I thought we were having a serious discussion?

I agree that Holden probably wont play a minute in the qualifiers (never say never though). Firstly he's yet to go a full 90'. You cant really risk starting someone that you know you'll have to sub out. I could see him being a 2nd half substitute though. I do think he'll get sometime in either or both friendlies so JK can see him and he can play against top class competition (Belgium and Germany B/C team are still higher quality than Championship teams). Also him back in the fold really pushes guys liks Zusi, EJ, beasley, Corona, Bedoya, even Mixx, Morales and Gatt to step up their play and get more consistency and keep focused and improving. They all know about Holden's reputation so they should be scared of losing PT to him. That is a nice plus to have for those fringe midfielders

Holden will not start in the WCQ... I highly doubt it. Those who think either one of JJ or MB will hit the bench for him (depending on the camp you are in) are smoking something potent. Ridiculous.

He will probably get some sub minutes in a friendly... Maybe a start if they are just trying to give him an emotional bump. He will then play in the Gold Cup. Bolton is probably supportive of it (as inferred by Klinnsy) because it gives him needed time to get in shape without having to be at the expense of Bolton's playoff aspirations.

I don't think we'll be seeing him start in the WCQ unless he just hits some level that none of the other midfielders can match... Which I doubt at this stage. My .02

Jermaine Jones doesn't provide what Holden can provide. Jones is the better player at the moment though. It's about skillsets and bringing on the players who can make the BEST team. TEAM.

are people trying to suggest that they honestly think holden should be considered for important minutes for USMNT at this point?

in last 2 years he has played a total of 345 minutes in 8 games, and has yet to go as much as 75 min in a single game.

get a grip people

if he plays well in fall he may have a legit opportunity to compete for a spot

He won't really play. Its a motivation/locker room move and a chance for them to see him in training with the guys. He may not even make the match day roster (I wouldn't be surprised at all) and rightfully so. I do like this move from JK though. A lot of the SBI board people were saying it was all hypocrisy (vis a vis the LD situation) but I think its actually a smart management move. He gets to train over the summer to move up in shape, while the coaching staff sees what he has now, and it can help his chances to start with Bolton next season.

Just glad that he is back in the hunt. Best of luck to Stu. The guy has been really unlucky. I am sure even if he doesn't play it will be rewarding for all to have him around again.

I think Holden will get minutes during the friendlies most definitely. For the WCQ probably not, but you never know what Klinsmann will do.

@ Rain- Did you not see that Klinsmann said he will be on the Gold Cup team. Holden will get serious minutes this summer, not in the fall. Telling people to a grip coming from you who has Kljestan as a starter this summer, c'mon man.

it is a just reward for getting himself back on the field after so much time out. i dont think people should have a problem with it.

i can see why people would be upset if JK then turns around and does not invite LD. LD was basically out with an (mental) injury, now he is back and has declared he is fully invested. so, yeah, it would be a bit of hypocrisy.

as far as people talking about holden returning to an important role on the field in meaningful games for full NT, i dont get. he has not done anything in 2 years. after that amount of time you have to work your way back in by playing regularly. maybe he will do that in the fall. maybe he wont

There is a matter of Jurgen's knowledge base regarding psychology. He kept asking Landon to coffees, lunchs, dinners, to which landon refused. He stated that Landon's emotional problems came from being uncomfortable with taking his game to the next level and just being uncomfortable and unwilling. He is an absolute imbecile if this is his conception of psychology. Only 1 year remaining on his contract.
