I know this isn't a MLS game but for player development it is an interesting game. USL Pro match Rochestor vs Harrisburg City. potentially 8 young MLSers, two of them homegrowns. Philly HGPs Mclaughlin and Hernandez has both played a lot and has been looking really good. Future is bright in philly

No Seattle this week, so the games I will certainly watch are:

Toronto V New York: Can Gale Boss continue his good steady defensive performances against New York. He gets his sternest test to date with Henry. Will Luis Silva continue his impact play?

Portland V KC: Should be a very fun one to watch.

LA V Salt Lake: Is Donovan fit to start? Looking forward to Villarreal going up against Chris Schuler. Will Luis Gil be a factor? Can Tony Beltran cement a USMNT May/June camp call-up with a good performance today?

Some good games today with USMNT implications and story lines woven throughout.

Some uninspiring soccer being played in Toronto. The Red Bulls don't like to run and Toronto just isn't that good. Red Bulls look like they're playing at 75%.

Just a thought, but MLS needs to cut down the number of teams that make the playoffs. The quality of the league isn't good enough to have so little urgency early on in the season.

I think when your future team NYC and more teams are added to the MLS the playoffs will be at a correct size

Brilliant post. I don't know what it is, but MANY MLS teams look completely uninspired at times. I really think some teams and players simply take days off just because they feel they can get away with it and still slide into the playoffs. You watch a DC v. NY game and you can tell, both teams and players are giving a 110%, and the on field product looks GOOD. However, they'll play a not so rival and put in what appears to be a 70-75% effort. This kinda thing is noticeable. You can tell the difference between a team having an off day and one just not really caring all that much. I don't know if I'd put today's Toronto NY game in this category, but many games seem to go this way. I'd be all in favor of cutting the playoff number down, especially in the coming years with all this expansion talk.

McBean is so much more than a route-1 player. I can't believe people were telling me that's all he was

A more realistic option is Nagbe who has 2.5 years to go unless he moves abroad. Hope MLS can keep him

doesn't Nagbe really want his citizenship. I remember Nagbe was a threat to hold out if Vancouver drafted him first because it would effect the citizenship process. I think Nagbe would stay long enough to become a U.S citizen
