There should be more than enough time for Alonso to show what he's got. Tab is a smart guy, if Alonso shows he deserves to be at U-20 WC, he'lll be at the U-20 WC.

Monterrey have a tough policy limiting interviews to their U20 players

Tweets from USAprospects guy:

1) Can also confirm that Alonso Hernandez would be interested in representing USA at U20 lvl. Tab Ramos & US U20 could use his skill set #usynt

2) Can confirm that US Soccer has not reached out to Monterrey U20 star Alonso Hernandez. #usynt

He is on the bench right now. Good to see him. Kid will have a lot of eyes on him hopefully at this point. US Soccer can't be this incompetent.

Yeah they can.... Bryan Salazar wasnt included in the U-20 camp

My biggest problem with US soccer is there is never information on players that decline

I understand everyone is excited but we are bashing the US Soccer for not calling in players who has not played professionally for his club team and a guy who has played one game and made the bench for another. These guys may become stars but we need to raise the bar above playing one game

Since its a U-20 tournament, any kid getting first team minutes should be automatic. Especially if its in a quality league. Most kids dont become pro's at 18 or 19, especially in the US because we have a draft.

Fine what about Salazar, you just said the US Soccer is incompetent for not calling in Salazar when he hasn't featured for the Dynamo at all due to Salazar's own wishes. Where is the outrage about Julio Morales who is U20 and got called in by Mexico, he has started a couple matches for Chivas USA. I understand getting called up to the senior team is a terrific thing but it is kind of much to call in every single person who get called up to the first team.

Salazar hasnt featured only because he is graduating high school. He still practices with the first team. Once he graduates in 3 weeks, he will be with the first team. And thats speculation on his omission. I dont know if he was even asked or if he declined.

Im high on Salazar because I dont see anyone with his skill set.

Also, a lot has to do with the system they are in. I would rank Fabian Hurzeler in the Bayern munich adcademy over the college players.

I have no opinion on your second statement because I dont even know who that dude is.

Are u serious no they dont they gotta prove themselves, play several minutes, contribute with goals and assist or great defending if their a defender or goalie.. Thats the problem with USA one player makes a random apearance for any league and were upsest with them like they should automatically start.. Look at all the power houses world wide.. They have players starting and dominating at age.18,19,20... And mean getting 90mins, 5 to 20 goals in a season 5+ assist.. Playing 25+ games in a season.. And playing in top 10 leagues in the world... Mls included... Those are the type of players we need, thats why we been sucking...

They already proved themselves if they were to make it at the pro level. I will take a kid playing on Monterrey first team over the college kids Ramos called in any day.

Its the U-20 level

You re right we need those type of players and we are starting to develop them. Best example that matches your criteria is Shawn Parker.... but guess what, he has his eyes on the bigger prize at the moment.

He got ~45 minutes of play yesterday. http://www.goal.com/es-mx/match/99697/monterr...

Really Tab, a couple of college kids are more important for a look than a guy on a good mexican 1st league team getting legit minutes?

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
