What? Boyd is young player that plays in the Austrian league and scores a series of being in the right place at the right time goals. Jozy is in the dutch league scoring in many different and impressive ways, and scoring in extraordinary numbers (truly extraordinary). That's not comical to say Boyd is not an impressive option.

Ill bet you a $100 boyd will score a goal for the national team before altidore does !

JK would actually have to play him over the power house top talents like EJ and Herc

ej can play on the wing and striker, boyd can only play strike ej gets the call cuz of his ability to cover 2 postions off the bench but i do think boyd is the better striker

Lol.Boyd has barely had a shot and you got people on here saying we need to move on and the logic is that he isn't that good because he gets lucky by "scoring a series of being in the right place at the right time goals". THAT'S WHAT HE'S PAID TO DO. I understand your point, as weak as it is(doesn't mean I agree)but Boyd is still a pup and when you couple that with the lack of LEGIT threats we have at FW it's crazy talk to mention writing Boyd off at this point.

I don't know about right place right time goals (isn't that every goal? when was the last time you saw a wrong place wrong time goal? Oh wait, that's called a miss...)

Either way Boyd and Jozy have been impressive this year, things we should be grateful for. And Herc too. EJ is around because he can play the wing and sort of has a motor. However, Boyd is very young and there is no need to "move on", which is ridiculous considering he has double digit goals in his first year as a pro on a team people have at least heard of. And they are playing a bit off this year too.

However, there is nothing to prove he'd be more effective than Jozy up top... Honestly no one seems effective up top right now... Which has a lot to do with our chemistry in mid-field.

Tap ins/headers in the austrian league is not that impressive (go look at videos of his goals). It's one dimensional and the defense is not that good. I'm not "writing him off", I am saying at this present moment, someone should be called up in his place AT A DIFFERENT POSITION WE NEED MORE OF because we have too many strikers on the roster. At the present moment. Not 6 months from now. At the present moment.

EJ scored 7 goals in 4 years for fulham, cardiff, aris and preston before returning to MLS at 28. now at 29, we know what we have. not a whole lot.

at 22, ill take boyds 16 in austria/europa, which is every bit as good as 16 in MLS. and it can only get better

last 2 games it looked as if JK had realized playing EJ wide was a bad option - which it is

with full, healthy roster, EJ is almost irrelevent

What other true strikers do we have besides Jozy? We currently have used EJ as his sub the last couple games. Herc has been starting out wide. Wouldnt we want our 2nd best striker on the roster in case Jozy took a knock or got suspended? Isnt the better option replacing EJ with a different guy

You would trust Boyd, who is still relatively professionally raw, to important WCQs if Jozy took a knock? EJ and Herc at least have experience.

I think EJ will have to be recycled out of the system and honestly he had made his money because he was playing well at Seattle round the end of last year and then performed on the Nats with his one big chance. Since then though he's not done anything for Seattle so his stock is weak now, IMO.

I think Boyd should be Jozy's backup, assuming Herc plays wide (thank God he plays wide a good amount for SL now and days). But when you look at strikers we are thin, that's why a pure striker like Boyd is necessary.

Jozy
Herc (usually going to play and not as the target guy)
Clint (not the target guy, period. his role has been discussed with aplomb)

Without Boyd we are really thin, and that's even including EJ. Who better to have in his place? We just don't have a wealth of in-form attacking 3rd guys.

Agudelo is out of the conversation right now. Jack Mac may enter the conversation soon.

Why wouldnt you? Hasnt he shown in his limited appearances that he's capable of holding his own. His 20 min appearance off the bench he get the winning goal in Mexico. His only ever start was when we won 5-1 against Scotland. Other than those two times he's rarely been given more than the time wasting substitution. He's also a top 5 scorer for his league, which is at least equal in quality to MLS and probably not that far off from MX. Throw in the fact that at hes 6-7 years younger than those guys and every time we use him he'll get better (in theory). Why wouldnt you trust him? You cant play guys until they retire. You need to move on eventually

with LD back you really dont need herc AND EJ. one is plenty

and yes - definitely time to get boyd some 'important' minutes. you have to start sometime. now is as good a time as ever

IF LD is back I'm all with you rain.. There's no reason to have EJ he was in form 6 months ago... not anymore.. Boyd hasssssss to get minutes. Or at least become #2.. I personally think he's our second best pure ST
