Well it was nice to see him start, I wish Wenger would have kept him on for a while longer in the second half as we didn't get to see much from him (either good or bad for that matter).

Big news bits out of ESPN:

1) Zelalem does not yet have his US passport but he's working on it.
2) Klinsmann has already spoken to him
3) He says both the US and Germany would be good choices

With regards to point 3, I think he's being clever and not ruling out any options especially with his US situation not yet finalized. I have no issue with this and would do the same thing in his position.

The "USA USA" chant when Zelalem scored was cool

Nice ball by Zelalem to Akpom late in Arsenal's friendly with Monaco, unfortunately the referee then botched the call on the keeper's subsequent foul (contact if made was well inside the area for a PK).

If find it interesting when people see someone who's real skinny, light but has A TON OF SKILL and think he's a liability. They would prefer someone who is more athletic, stronger, great work rate but sends in worthless cross after cross, without a good touch and contributes nothing offensively. (we have the latter players currently on the USA roster/player pool.) Right now, Zelalem would be our no. 10 if he were on the bench for Arsenal (as well as citizenship lol). To quote Common, "It don't take a whole day to recognize sunshine".

I also thought it was interesting, whether this was by design, or him just taking the initiave, that he started out wide like in the redbull game but decided he was goign to park himself behind the striker and behind the CDM's of Monaco. This gave him just a fraction of a second more to work with to find space in their defense. Under pressure he continued to Iniesta turn himself away from trouble, and that last ball off a one touch, you don't teach that.

Calm down? Don't excited, sure of course.

Did I see him get his pockets picked? Yes.

Did I see him get muscled off the ball? Yes.

Did I see him offer very low work rate? Yes.

Our players right now, are guilty of ALL these things (Michael Bradley midfield WC 2014). I would kill for one of them to have the perspicacity and control of Gedion. (I'm looking at you, too, Gil.)
