I do hope Zelalam lives up to the hype. To be honest, is probably not that likely given how rare it is for a player to live up to his youth hype (Fabregas, really, no pressure?)

IMO let him progress through U-20 and U-23 and if he excels then yes, call him in to a camp.

You can put Green up top as a Second striker with Jozy.

My ideal 2018 is this.

GK - Guzan, Cropper, Castano
Defender - Chandler, Yedlin, Johnson, Lichaj, Brooks, Gonzalez, Packwood, Besler
Midfield - Bradley, Pelosi, Hyndman, Gil
Attack Mid - Zelalem, Green, Flores, Gall
Forward - Altidore, AJ, Boyd, Parker

Starting XI
Guzan
Yedlin, Brooks, Packwood, Lichaj
Flores, Bradley, Zelalem, Green
Altidore, Parker

That is provided that all of those players (mostly for big clubs oversea's) develop like we hope.

2022
Cropper
Yedlin, Brooks, Packwood, ????
Flores, Pelosi, Zelalem, Green
Parker, Arriola

You would have to have a defensive minded Midfielder in the middle there. The rest looks great.

At least put like a box-to-box type Mid in the center like Hyndman or Pelosi and push Zalalem outwide.

Attention All American Outlaw members in NJ/NY area:

Please go to the Red Bull- Arsenal game because Zelalem will be playing. Please chant "Gedion Zelalem for USA- Gedion Zelalem for USA" (or something more melodious) and hold up a banner with a giant picture of Gedion.

Wait, too much?

I am not a member of a supporters group. I have utmost respect for them though. It's not for me.

I'm jaded somewhat even though I'm apart of it. There are four groups of people within the supporter groups.

1. Actual footy fans that care about the progression of the game in the US.

2. Uber Americans that don't care about progression....just want results.

3. What I call the new age hipsters....really passionate about supporting football/soccer just because it's not the norm and it's not your typical American thing to do.

4. People that just like to get big groups and yell and act like crazy people.

Typically there are less of number 2 when its not around big tournaments mainly the World Cup. The most annoying are group 3 as they will argue with you even though it's clear they have no knowledge of the game.

Someone tweeted that anyone in JFK airport should see which customs immigration line Zel goes to when he arrives, will tell us whether he has citizenship yet or not. Common frequent travelers!

5PM Eastern Time, Arsenal vs. Redbulls. Good showtime, everyone make sure to watch. (I will say 98% probability Zelalem gets ~35-45 minutes).
