I get bored talking to the foudning fathers and George Best up here sometimes so id like to hear something new and fun.

A new MLS franchise opens up in (choose city). Who is your...

3 DP's?
Coach?
GM?
Team name?

Now it would be nice for this to be realistic but I understand the intangible dreams you mortals possess. Entertain thy soccer lord...

Do not temp The Lord young man. That said its Maradona at the moment but Messi will surpass him in the coming years. And unfortunately it's zee Germans Munich this year. I could see Zlatan in a few years in a New York team.

You refer to me as a nerd, yet talk about call of duty. Don't be "that guy" ( who is all of those things but his self loathing causes him to project his own flaws onto someone else) we call that being pathetic. Being a troll and all I certainly didn't put up a hypothetical question about soccer...oh wait I did. Good answer though my son.

Indianapolis! (We just got an NASL franchise for 2014 which I am a proud season ticket holder of already)

Racing Indy FC or Circle City FC

David Moyes - Coach

Unrealistic DP - Neymar - that would be a shocker

IN the realm of possibility (as in could be an MLS DP) - Kaka

Prodigal son returns DP - DaMarcus Beasley

President - Peter Wilt - wait he already is. (I have no clue about who would be the GM)

I'll be "that guy" and reply.

Very cool! I had no idea that they had gotten a team there. I also like the Beasley as DP. Best part is the Racing Indy FC just because that's a bad ass name! You please me mortal.

Yeah I am stoked! Unfortunately do to the Indy Racing League we cannot use that name. Such a bummer because that is a sick team name. They are announcing the name and colors this month. They have already sold around 3,000 season tickets and we don't have a coach, name, colors, or players yet. I cant wait.

Team - NY Cosmos
City - NYC (I want Manhattan but it will be Queens)
Coach - Michael Laudrup (pretty unrealistic)
GM - Eric Cantona (basically he already is)
DP1 - Kaka
DP2 - Drogba or Eto'o
DP3 - Rio Ferdinand

All of those are pretty realistic, except for Laudrup. Have a DP in defense, midfield, and up top. Those guys would actually be possible to get if they could dish out the cash.

Well, so much for being a deity

At any rate, to play along...

Charlotte Calamity

Head Coach: Claudio Ranieri

DP: Wesley Sneijder, Joey Barton, Maurice Edu

I know it's hypothetical, but Barton can't enter the country due to his assault record. We'll see if the almighty can get border security to look the other way.

I like those DP's. they are all performing or are still capable of performing well for the next 2-4 years.

Yea, they all would still be good and would be on the fringe of leaving their position at their respective clubs. Each would be in a position where they had to either get paid a lot less to stay (and probably play sparingly) at the same level, or keep getting paid tons to play (as the superstars of the team and league) at a lower level.

To be honest, it is completely possible considering each has already had rumors linking them with future moves to the MLS. Its all speculation, I know, but still. I just wouldnt want the league to dish out too much cash tho if these guys werent getting interest from anywhere else because that would make our league look pretty weak.

Sorry Heavans Internet was down (a thousand years of bad luck for Time Warner Cable) and I couldn't google the Indy Racing stuff. Anyway I like the DP's but I don't think Barton could come here with his sinful assault charges. And the name Calamity? Is there a reason for that name besides it sounding cool? I tend to like the names when they have some something to do with the area. Thanks for responding even though you doubt my powers.

@SoccerGod, first let me say: Damn you for taking Bobby Rhine so early...

Being from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, I'd like to see a more centrally located team (Frisco is pretty far out there for most people). Being the fastest growing area of the country should make sense for a second team of the fastest growing professional sport in the country.

I'd like to see Metroplex United (MetU for short) somewhere in the Irving/Arlington region (directly between Dallas and Ft. Worth). Is Mark Cuban available for owner?

DPs:
Hmm...that's a tough call. I'm going to assume that money is no object when I'm making my picks, but will keep them to somewhat realistic players.
1st - Frankie Lamps! Screw LA Frankie, come to Texas!
2nd - Omar Bravo. Great leader and will def. draw in the hispanic community, which is key to meeting/exceeding attendance goals.
3rd - The Prodigal Texan returns....Clint Dempsey! Somewhat local boy makes good and finishes his career at home.

I'm pretty open to who'd be a good manager, but if we're not thinking about money, Sven Goran Eirksson would bring a lot of experience and a lot of name recognition, both of which are important for a brand new team.

I want Alexi Llalas for our GM...he may have botched things a bit at LA, but his enthusiasm and creativity in terms of public exposure and interaction would make MetU a good place for him to get his groove back.
