I think a 3-5-2 would work in today's game but not for the U.S. national team. Most teams play with 1 center foward and 2 wingers so technically the 3 defenders would have have the other teams fowards marked individually. We would also be able to have with 2 true fowards and 2 flank players which could help out our attack alot. With that being said our defense is to weak to play this formation

who is our best CB?

JKs biggest failure in friendlies and over last several months has been to not look at alternative formations.

question for everyone:
what is plan B if either bradley or jones is injured or suspended?

if you already have 3 in central midfield it is much easier to adjust if you have to replace bradley or jones as you already have another guy who is a regular in those spots. as it is now we are just completely f$cked if we lose one of those guys. no, not in CONCACAF, but in WC, yes completely screwed

its an absolute recipe for disaster

you cant ask kljestan or anyone else to just step in completely out of the blue (as in belgium game) and expect a positive outcome

again, you can get by in CONCACAF, but not against WC competition

JAB is our best option at CB. In 3-4 months he'll be a bundesliga starter. I think that puts him at the top of the list.

time to dust off the 3-5-2

heres why:
1) donovan and dempsey play the same position. its not 2010 anymore people - neither LD or CD will be effective at WC in a wide position. everyone has already acknowledged that they both lack a sufficient burst of speed to be effective wide players (LD in pinch, but dempsey - no way). choose 1.

2) altidore and johannsson play the same position. until further notice, AJ is a pure 9 - where he plays for AZ at the tip of their 4-3-3. choose 1

everything simply dominos from there. JK will NOT sit jones. 3-man CM is best we can hope for
