Why was he fired? I understand the argument of the larger company "just cleaning house", but it seems so fishy in the timing. Absolute gem of a journalist.

My guess is he'll be snapped up by someone pretty quickly.

Nope, I have no desire to be a journo. Not enough money for the hours that are involved. I have much respect for sports journalists though. They work long hours, get paid way to little, and sacrifice a lot of time and energy into the profession. Plus it's a high risk career with very few job openings.

I wouldn't mind writing an occasional freelance article because I enjoy the utter agony that is writing, but no way would I make sports writing a career.

Brian Straus will find a new job. Good sports writer.

It needs to be said how much of a scumbag Jurgen is for telling the German media that Brian made up the quotes from his article. Disgraceful move by a USMNT coach.

Jurgen has every right to his opinion. The German media asked some questions and Jurgen gave his opinionated answers. The last time I checked in the USA there is freedom of Speech and Freedom of the press; in which both freedoms were used by the respective parties involved.
