I think the messsage is loud and clear regarding MLS and the CCL. When it comes time for the knock out rounds against Mexican opposition MLS teams just don't stack up player quality wise on the depth chart.

My guess it's going to be a few more years before MLS is really a player in the knockout rounds.

To bad. Looking like Monterrey and Santos Laguna in the final again.

On another note Jesus Corona is good; really good. That guy is going to give USMNT defenders nightmares in the future.

Agree 100% w/r/t Seattle; not for LA. Juninho's injury definitely hurt, but it was the starters who lost that game.

The Mexican league is just a better league than MLS, and with better quality... These games show the difference

Yeah I agree we are a few years away.

Galaxy really shouldve capitalized on their chances. They looked the better of the team. Galaxy needs a better midfield. The juninho/sarvas pairing looks like it regressed. A 3rd DP would do the galaxy wonders.

Was the ref mexican ? Whats with all these hispanic refs blowing the whistle on 99% set pieces and corners now?

I think both Seattle and LA can still pull an upset

Have to say Bruce Arena was outcoached as well. Monterrey flooded the mdfield with players in the second half. Bruce made 0 adjustments to counter that.

If Seattle gets Martins and EJ back then yeah they might have a chance. Seattle is only down one goal, so they defend and then hit on the counter with Martins, EJ, and Zakuanis pace they may be able to nick a few goals.

I aways forget that away goals only matter if the total series is tied on goals in the CCL, so yeah I guess both teams still have a chance to win.

Dallas was the first team to win in Mexico in CCL play...it's possible to beat these teams. I do agree that the quality gap doesn't help, but if you're a good team playing really well, you can beat almost anyone.

The financial restrictions of our league are both helping us and hurting us in regards to CCL play, but I guess that's a topic for another thread...

of LA starters, who would start for a top 4 Lg MX team?

- keane
- maybe juninho
- not really sure about gonzalez

the rest would not see the field with any regularity. and this is the best MLS has to offer. kinda sad

@2Tone you are right MLS has few more year to go before they start dominating the CCL but yesterday Galaxy was doing a good game and Monterey was getting desperate, you could see it on Suazo face. Thanks to Chelito Delgado who change the game for them. Too bad juninho had to leave the game early. But Galaxy had too many chances to put this game away. I counted like 5 chances to put that in. Sounders lost by one goal is not like they were dominated by Santos either. I hope the MLS team go back to Mexico and at least give them a fight. Galaxy will have Donovan probably playing more time and more fit for the second leg. But yes Mexican team are bit more better cause the have more money to spend, Remember this are Mexican team Nortenos which they have a lots of money. Santos, Monterey and Tigres are one of the team that they spend a lots of money on good players. Until the MLS raised more they Salary Cap at least to 5-10 million per team. They won't stack on quality Players. MLS can't not depend on 3 Designated players or at least bring more players that can give you more and better quality and improve their games in the CCL and in the MLS League.

After watching LA a few times this year I don't get what Sarvas offers. The majority of his passes are off and he doesn't do much defending.

Juninho is great. Why has'nt he moved to Europe? Can't blame anyone for liking SoCal though.

He just signed with LA in Jan. He was still under contract on loan from Sao Paulo until 2013.
