But at just 22 he's an interesting prospect who despite the drama will certainly help with the next wave of talent.

Chandler is more than just a prospect. Im not saying Dolo is going to lose his starting spot, but Chandler is the better RB, especially for Klinsmanns desired tactics. And I know some you guys think the locker room is going to be awkward, but its not like he's been lying to them. At 22, its a HUGE decision to make that will effect the rest of your international career. And having guys like Fabian, DWill, and Jermaine with this squad, it'll make the transition that much smoother.

I will tell you this right now. I am welcoming Chnadler back with open arms. Even if he doesn't displace Dolo at RB Chandler is also a very viable option to start at RW as well. Please don't talk about moving Johnson to LW and moving Chandler to LB because that fact remains that Johnson is a much better player since moving to LB, and he is the USMNT starting LB period,

Oh and Klinsmann would not be calling Chandler in for this friendly if he wasn't finally committed to the USMNT. This is pretty much a sign that Chandler will be cap tied to the USMNT come the first qualifier against Honduras. I bet my bottom dollar.

Would love to see this backline against Russia

Chandler, Cameron, Brooks, Fabian.

Skill, speed, and athleticism galore. But more than lilely we will see this back 4

Dolo, Cameron, Boca, Fabian

This really made my day.

With the additions of Chandler, Pontius, and possibly DeLeon going into the Hex the USMNT is going to be a very good team. Hopefully Donovan will find his mojo, and be rearing to go as well. Wouldn't be surprised if Klinsmann hands the Captains armband over to Donovan going into the Hex.

Is official chandler has been called to the Russia friendly..... Idk why he dint accept any call ups for the official qualifying games but klissman is taking a big gamble on a player that doesn't have his heart with the US.. not excited about his call up.

According to bshredder, JK is at Chandler's game and might be visiting with Parker as well.

Chandler is more than just a prospect.

I agree he has talent but he's not been consistent and has yet to prove he's a starter quality at the international level, hence he's a prospect.

Cherundolo is and has been one of the best USMNT players for the entire 2012 year if you look at consistency and reliability. He's played a ton of games and rarely has a bad game.

Chandler as the future RB is exciting but I don't see it as him coming in and starting right away and anyone who thinks he should is severely overlooking Cherundolo.

Chandler right now is depth... he's not a starter at any position. He's depth at RB and RW and maybe an interesting option as a sub off the bench. I think he and Lichaj should fight for the role to fill in whenever Dolo starts to decline (which we haven't seen signs of yet). But at just 22 he's an interesting prospect who despite the drama will certainly help with the next wave of talent.

Why? Lichaj has been awful this season and isn't even a starter for his club, when Dolo slows down Chandler will replace him.

Chandler went a full 90 for FCN today in a 2-1 win over Augsburg.

First 70 were at RB
Last 20 were at RW

Was he impressive at RW?

He was pretty good. He was really trying to stretch Augsburg who were pushing for the equalizer

People forget that he didn't start playing RB until 2011 (when he was 20). He was a winger his entire youth career.

Well if Dolo is ready to play by the March qualifiers I wouldn't mind seeing Chandler move up to RW.

Lichaj actually has had a solid season minus a few errors at LB. I've watched nearly every villa game this season and don't understand why Paul Lambert has frozen him out these last few weeks, especially with the lack of experience in the back line. It's very unfortunate for both villa and and usmnt.

Timmy Chandler was voted onto Kicker magazines team of the week. He was also voted onto Bundesliga 4 u team of the week.

He keeps this up, and Klinsmann will have to bring him back into the fold.

the flimsy "others are playing better" excuse offered by jk for why chandler wasn't called recently isn't going to cut it much longer.

i didnt buy it then and i think there is a private reason jk doesn't want chandler. A reason he would rather not reveal.
either way, right back is suddenly the usmnt's deepest position...(best right back in bundesliga and EPL this weekend) +dolo et al

He might not reveal it but it certainly isn't "private." It's the fact that Chandler isn't committed enough to the team. We sure as hell aren't going to win through talent, it's going to be with grit and guts, and with that in mind I'm not sure if Chandler should be on the team. He might be faster and better at going forward than Cherundolo but Steve is obviously much better defensively. And who do you want on that team, someone with three World Cups under their belt, who bleeds red, white, and blow? Or some German guy who is more interested in his club team? If Steve isn't up for it I would probably rather have Cameron. We don't need Chandler badly enough to take him. The disadvantages (negatively affecting team chemistry) outweigh the advantages (having yet another RB).
