After thinking about it, I personally want one of a couple different lineups taking the following into account

- Need experience and players who have dealt with these scenarios
- Need to defend Mexican speed
- Want players who understand the Mexican game, speak Spanish, and have Mexican heritage (last one is for motivation)

4-5-1

--- Altidore ---
Gomez - Deuce - Corona
-- Bradley - Kljestan --
Beas - Good/Gonz - Edu - Cam

or

--- Altidore ---
EJ - Deuce - Gomez
-- Bradley - Kljestan --
Beas - Good/Gonz - Edu - Cam

I like Kljestan as a replacement for Jones. I would use Edu there, but since Mexico is ridiculously fast, I want him in the back to use his speed. I dont want Edu and Beasley next to each other because I dont want two make shift defenders to be side by side and because that would leave our right side vulnerable to speed. Because of that, I would either use Goodson or Gonzalez as LCB. Seeing as Goodson played well in that LCB spot last game, I may choose him. But Gonzalez speaks Spanish and is a Mexican-American, which could also have its advantages.

I want to keep Gomez in there because he plays in Mexico and speaks Spanish. He is used to the players and should feel comfortable playing at the Azteca. As for EJ or Corona, I have reasons for both. I want to use EJ's speed and athleticism. He can help us on the wing and would be an aerial threat. However, using him would leave us only 1 forward (Boyd) on the bench, and would really limit us if we needed to make attacking substitutions later in the game. I like Coronas creativity. He plays in Mexico and speaks Spanish so he should be very comfortable playing there. He could really help us out with service and off the ball movement, but my only concern is that I may not want to chance giving a player his first start in these circumstances. He would be a good option off the bench tho.

4-1-3-2

- Altidore - Gomez -
Deuce - Kljestan - Corona
-- Bradley --
Beas - Good/Gonz - Edu - Cam

Only thought with this is that it may give us a little bit more attack and give Jozy another option to play with up top

In all honesty tho, I think Klinsmann may play the same formation as last time, except replace Jones with either Edu or, unfortunately, Beckerman.

21 isn't all that young for a winger.

He wouldn't get a transfer to a place like Villarreal or Benfica as clubs like that wouldn't be interested (Altidore and Adu were teens). As I said I think he'd be a good fit for a mid to low table Eredevisie side.

He has gotten some praise for Solskjaer but he also has been inconsistent. The standard just isn't high where he's playing. If he plays well enough to get a transfer to a better league he will and hopefully at that point he'll get PT there and be able to contribute to the national team. But until then he's not really in the conversation and I'm not sold on him at all. He doesn't have anything other than pace and he's injury prone. He has played in Norway for awhile now and still hasn't gotten out of there yet. That to me shows that not a lot of people rate him. The Norwegian league doesn't exactly produce a lot of good players. How many 21 year olds play in Norway? And how many of them end up leaving to play in better leagues?

You're right that we don't have a lot of young guys playing in Europe and that's because we're in between generations. Our NT isn't that good at the moment and we don't have any young guys that are ready to step up. But I'm really excited for the U-20's though, I could see some of those guys making their way to Europe in the future. But the U-23's (Gatt, Shea, Adu, Agudelo), the ones who should be playing for their clubs and getting into the senior team picture, had potential but at this point haven't achieved very much. The jury is still out on them but I have a feeling that none of them will turn out to be good USNT players. I think Agudelo has the best chance but I'm not holding my breath.

I was argueing his age regarding his time to earn a place with the NT and his time to develop..dont know what your taliking about..(position?) It would be useless for him to transfer to a mid to low table Eredevisie team, those teams like heerenvenn or even alkmarr at this point arent any better than Molde. Even worse he wouldnt be in any of the europen competitions(CL,EL) were he would be able to most likely impress teams in bigger leagues and get a transfer..like I said he is prob in the best place possible to grow and get better. A couple more years in norway then a transfer to a mid table german side or upper table Eredevisie side would be best(then NT starting spot). Inconsistent..? Yes he has been bc of injury, you make it sound like he isnt good enough..he has only been in norway for two years, plus the Norwegian league just started back up and he went the full 90 for Molde last game..he is a work in progress yes, but he will only get better form here if he stays healthy and plays(continues to improve on his game).

Also how many 21yr olds leave norway for bigger leagues..? You can say that about any country..(except top soccer nations of course..)

I pray they are wrong. Im sure it will be EJ not Corona. Corona would mean JK did something aggressive

Most of you guys are delusional.

If the US stays within 3 goals, it will be a minor miracle.

The biggest challenge of the year. Never easy at Azteca. I hope we start Beasley as a defender as he is a veteran and has the experience of playing there. Orozco-Fiscal should get playing time if not starting. Not many USMNT players have scored there before and this could be a psychological edge for us. Zusi has played well and deserves a start. Edu should play as a holding middy too. Guzan, Demps and Altidore need big games! Jozy will be gassed in 20 minutes. We should only bring him on as a super sub when they are tired too. We need to use Boyd and Altidore on the field at the same time to use our height and size to our advantage over them. Bradley needs to step up and show some leadership and killer instinct. A win would be historic!! Go USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey thanks. It's to tiring to be so negative all of the time.

By the way Goodson is a gametime decision. If he isn't able to go then look for Edu to be at CB.

If Edu plays CB, then I fear Beckerman will be the CDM...

--------altidore--------
-dempsey----------gomez-
-----bradley---kljestan-----
---------edu----------
beasley-goodson-gonzo-cameron

let mo mark gio out of game. heavy work load for dempsey and gomez - helping defensively on wings

if goodson is out id bring cameron inside and go with beltran on the right. gio will run circles around beckerman

These USMNT players have a certain calm confidence about them. I like it. I get the feeling this could be a long night for Mexico.

Im confident too. Why is everyone so scared of mexico? Mexican players cant score from beyond the box and are at disadvantage on set pieces and corners

So much for attacking Mexico. I predict we take less than 5 shots all game. Less than 3 scoring chances total
