Im watching Hertha Berlin now

Both Brooks and Morales are playing. Having morales on the team could also help Brooks with the decision to play for the US.

Brooks' best friend is Jerome Kiesewetter (who was on the US U20 qualifying team but I don't think will make the final team).

Players should choose the US team because they want to, not because of friends.

@BShredder, I expected that they would want to keep the CB pair they have for U20s and Brooks would eventually fold in with the Olympic team, but I do see what you're saying. If Brooks does side with us, it would make the most sense to put him in with his age group, and the people he'd most likely be playing with for his NT career.

Didn't really think about how long Gonzo would be out with the friendlies and the GC...who would you like to see in the friendlies? I guess I'd have to say Goodson and Besler to see if they have any chemistry together...other than that I can't really think of who I'd want to see get the start.

@ b shredder

No i definitely agree with you but I think having people around you involved in the same situations helps in weighing your options. Morales probably talked to him about his "camp cupcake" experience and Kiesewetter has probably told him about his experiences at the U-20 qualifiers.

Brooks is not going to play in the Gold Cup!! Not going to happen. If he does play with the US this summer, it will be with the U20 team. Why can't people grasp this???

As for the rest of the Gold Cup, I tend to think you're not going to see too much overlap with the May/June games.

Under your lineup above, Omar Gonzalez would be on international duty from mid/late may through mid July. That's not too fair to the Galaxy, either.

Lol I for some reason got too excited that he may choose USA and completely forgot the U-20WC was happening this summer.. I know he'll be playing for that lol my bad..

If brooks doesn't accept a call to the sub 20 WC.. forget it he will never play for USA... If he does, a future backfield of Johnson, brooks, gonzo, chandler.... Lol 3 Germans, 1 Mexican American.. I have no idea why he hasn't scored a goal all season on a set piece or something inst he like 6'5 or 6'6 ???

based off today's game, i never saw the Hertha defenders (or brooks) in the box on a corner kick. I dont watch a lot of the games but maybe it's a tactical decision by the coach.

I could see a situation where he plays for German U21 team but say he hasnt played for their senior team by 2016-2017. He could come back to us at that point. Cant fault anyone for seeing if they can make it to Germany

Holy crap man. Chill for a second. Nobody is saying that he's just going to walk onto the team and start first day. If he does choose us though he instantly becomes our top CB prospect. He would be a starter with the u-20's in turkey and then would most likely be involved in camp cupcake if he hasnt worked his way into the senior side yet.

As for Chandler i think just about everyone on here agrees that if Dolo is healthy he is the starter... but Tim is solid and should be on this team although given recent pt he may be better served playing as a mid.

Chandler is poised to be the next Dolo just as he is getting ready to retire from the international scene if not from playing altogether. He's quick, strong and has a good head on his shoulders and skill-wise is far in front of any other potential Dolo replacement.

Give credit where credit is due.

I will give credit where credit is due.

But Chandler hasn't earned it yet. He hasn't played that well for US national team aside from his debut against Argentina in 2011. He was decent on the defensive side against Ecuador in 2011 but didn't get forward.

When he starts playing well for the US team, people consider him the next USMNT RB or RW.

@BShredder, I can concede that he hasn't earned it yet, but with him being so young and quite talented, and with Dolo being so close to not being an option anymore, don't we need to start thinking about long term replacements? I'm not opposed to bringing in someone a little older and established, like Spector, but Chandler should def. be a starter in the GC.

If he does well in the GC, then he'll have earned our praise...if he doesn't perform well, then we can start looking past him...either way, it'll be an answer, or at least a strong indication.

We don't have a good replacement for Dolo. Everyone else sucks and is not very good or consistent enough. Enough said.
