tylercocinas is right. The kid is still young and probably wants to keep his options open and see where his career takes him before he commits. Youth level representation means nothing. Take Neven Subotic for example. And now adays full national team representation doesnt even matter unless its in a FIFA sanctioned game. Take Jermaine Jones and Edgar Castillo for example. Like ewalcott said, lets relax and stop freaking out.

@Alcharod, I read that link you posted. It didnt show any evidence of Brooks not wanting to represent the United States. It was an interview, and the interviewer probably asked him the question of how he felt about the U-21 German team. His answer was one that any young kid would probably give. He wanted to sound professional, not say anything stupid, and show his interest in playing at a higher level. I'm sure he would love to play for the U-21 German team, because it would mean that he has gotten better and his progress is being recognized. As far as his choice for the U20 World Cup, he will probably pick whichever team that asks him and give him the best option of playing time and chance of winning.

And one more thing, youth international games arent the same as senior games. At no point is a club required to release a young player for youth national team duty. Considering there is a big geographical difference between North America and Europe, his club probably doesnt want to release him to go half way around the globe if they dont have to.

If your going to take sides you should read everything i said. All I said was, right now I'm sure he is keeping clear of the USSF right now. With all the turmoil its smart to go play for the Germans. Lol am I speaking alien lol I dont understand. Plus if he does well enough that the Germans eye him and WANT him, there is no way he will except the USA bid.

I think you're on to something when you say he's avoiding the drama that is the USMNT for right now. However, I don't think it's quite as clear cut as you make it seem when it comes to the opportunity to play for the German senior team. Their central defense is pretty well cemented by Hummels, Mertesacker, and Badstuber. When the time comes I think he'd have to think long and hard about his chances of being a regular first-teamer with those three in the mix. Just my two cents.

Totally respect that, and you may be on to something. I just dont see anything wrong with staying clear for awhile and devoting some time to the German squad.

I agree. I wouldn't touch the USSF until they settle this locker room drama. That's a situation that no one would want to intentionally put themselves in.

Brooks spoke to a German reporter and stated that he will chose who he is going to represent in the next few weeks. Sounds like he's ready to decide and stop the constant questioning. No matter who he chooses he can always change to the others with his one time switch, but its obvious who ever he choses this summer has a good chance to keep him (especially if he plays with us)

If he chooses us he is automatically a viable option at CB this summer for WCQ and definitely needs to be in the GC roster and June friendlies roster.

Ummmm did you read the article?

If he chooses the United States, he will be playing with the US U20 team (so no Gold Cup).

Since he hasn't played with he US U20s since 2011, he will likely be playing in the Toulon tournament to prepare for the U20 World Cup.

If Brooks does play for the United States, he won't play for the USMNT until the fall, at the earliest.

Exactly. Id say if he choses to play with our U20s Id put the chances of him playing on our senior team at 90% (Barring injury he'd have to be in consideration for sept qualies and permanent cap tying) If he choses Germany he probably still has a 40% chance to play with us as he probably wont have a chance with their senior team until 2015 or 2016 at the earliest

Agreed, I see the starting CB pair as being Gonzo and Brooks for the GC, and probably Cam/Gonzo for WCQ. Goodson is good, son...but probably not a starter, same with Besler. I think our 2018 starting pair is going to be Cam/Gonzo, and I've been pretty vocal about getting the future starters some playing time now while the pressure is off.

I tried reading the Article on google translate and i couldnt really understand it. Went over and read it on ives.

Going to be interesting but I heard it's not even a for sure thing Brooks will be called up to the U21 European Championship for Germany. He's only in consideration.

@ b shredder

Great article on Bryan Salazar. This is the information fans like to hear - I hope you forward it to Tab Ramos

Brooks is not going to play in the Gold Cup!! Not going to happen. If he does play with the US this summer, it will be with the U20 team. Why can't people grasp this???

As for the rest of the Gold Cup, I tend to think you're not going to see too much overlap with the May/June games.

Under your lineup above, Omar Gonzalez would be on international duty from mid/late may through mid July. That's not too fair to the Galaxy, either.

Im watching Hertha Berlin now

Both Brooks and Morales are playing. Having morales on the team could also help Brooks with the decision to play for the US.

Saw Morales came on in the 12' mark.

Is he positioned as a DM?

How have they looked?

Cheers..
