Brooks was called into Germany's U20 team next week. Not there U-21 team which bodes well for Brooks to rep the US this summer.

If the U-21's were really considering Brooks he would be getting called into that squad now.

Brooks choosing to represent the US would be huge for us. I think he is a starter on the full national team for years to come. He would even have a legit shot at being on the plane to Brazil. He is that good. It isn't just that he has that much potential, but he is consistently performing at a high level at just 19. His team should be in the Bundesliga next year and I imagine it is only a matter of time before he is off to a better team. Even if he doesn't go to a better team, he will be a starter in the bundesliga at CB. I am excited about the next generation of Brooks (if he chooses) Villareal, Gil, Joya, Cuevas, Pelosi, Packwood and Cropper (not that we need tons of help at GK).

We also have Agudelo, Gatt, Boyd, Mix, Fabian Johnson, Chandler, Shea, Williams and a few other in the 20-25 age group who are also possible USMNT stars.

Uber-fan rant done.

Well looks like ussoccer and fans have to move on... He clearly prefers Germany the place where he was born and raised.. Idk why usa still keeps begging him, just move on and forget about it... Until he comes out and expresses a desire and interest for usa he will be welcomed..

Not sure why everyone hates on players whom choose to play for the country they were born in. It was their country of birth, and if they choose to play for that country let them...

Getting called into Germany's U-20's means nothing really.

What makes you say that? More than anything i think he is just attempting to appease the german media who got very aggitated when he said publicly that he wanted to represent the usa and wasnt thrilled with the german camp experiences. During the u-20 qualifiers jerome kiessewater a close friend of brooks said he wants to rep the US in turkey. Also of interest is that all of JAB's close friends who play for the US have enjoyed their time in the squad.
We will probably know in a few days when the wcq roster is released what his choice is.

Hertha Berlin already relesaed a statement saying he wasn't on the US WCQ roster.

You won't find out his choice until May.

I also believe he is just appeaasing the fans and Germany though.

If Germany's U-21's were seriously looking at him; he would be getting called into that team this month. Germany's U-21's only have this month and late May to get ready for U-21 qualifying.

Germany U21's have to be interested.

Smooth passing 6'5 central defenders who play smart (Brooks remarkably doesn't even have one yellow card this year in 19 starts) don't grow on trees. Even for elite teams like Germany they are hard to find.

if that is the case we can assume he is passing for now. with 23 man roster there is not really any reason not to invite him

this may go for a while, a la chandler. he is probably starting to realize he has a reasonable shot at full german squad down the road

Something can't be right here.

How can a teenage 6'5" defender with good touch, passing, strength, and speed have gone so long without Germany showing that much interest in him? It sounds like he should be a starter for their youth national teams.

If the U-21's are seriously interested they haven't shown it by calling him up this month.

Like I said the US fans won't find out until May with regards to his decision.

I am sure both Klinsmann and Ramos already have some kind of notion as to where his mind is at, and his decision making process.

Latest twist: Supposedly there is an article out in Germany today that the Germany U-21 coach wants Brooks for the U-21 Qualifying team this summer.

Thats my last update about this situation.

I am not going to get worked up about this any longer.

If he chooses the US then so be it. If not then so be it.
