30 goals in a season across all competitions.

First every American to do it. Groundbreaking

I don't have the details on that. But... in Europe? Or overall? In Europe I think so... That's what I'm thinking. Bshred?

And anyways, the Eredivisie goal thing is mostly exaggerated. Long term goal distributions show its really not that much of a difference compared to many of the other leagues. There is a difference, with it being the highest of the big 6 leagues, but its 3.023 per game (from 95 to 2010) whereas for example the Bundes is 2.868.

So I love how when people say Jozy's goals don't count because its Eredivisie... Its laughable. Those 30 goals are worth 28.5 Bundesliga goals. And no one would laugh at that.

I think the high in mls is 28 which wondo and lassiter set, in mexico gomez had with 10, so I think he is the first for an American in a top division.

I get that you are a huge Jones fan, but in no way would Jones start over Bradley if Klinsmann was to take one out.

Altidore and Boyd would just get in eachothers way. When Altidore is paired with another striker he works best with a player like Adu, Dempsey, or Charlie Davies.

I watched the game. Jozy played very well, the announcer raved about him.

Let's not forget though that this is a wide-open league with relatively weak defenses.

This doesn't knock from his achievements, which were great. But it's time for him to go to the next level. I don't think there's much left for him to learn in Holland. He has to go to another league while he's still young enough to develop a lot. Ligue 1 would be perfect for him: great developmental league that his developed a lot of players similar to Altidore. I wanted him to go there to begin with (St. Etienne instead of that idiotic loan to Hull, kudos to Michael Bradley). But AZ was perfect for him: he got to play in an offensive league where he got lots of service and really developed his striking abilities. Now it's time to play in Ligue 1, where the defenses are a lot better. If he can score at a decent rate there I'd feel great about him going against some of the top defenses in the world next summer.

Sadly I don't see him producing much for the national team since we don't have anyone who can provide him with any service (praying for Adu and Shea to turn out and for Donovan to return to form).

Not a good idea. The 4-4-2 is not in vogue right now. Teams playing it get outnumbered in the midfield. It would be a big problem for us too considering how high up the pitch Dempsey and Donovan would be playing (they will be too old for much defensive responsibilities). The bucket 4-4-2 with those two on the wings, Coach Bob's tactics of choice, was just really ineffective in a lot of ways and we struggled against weak teams and then got found out at the World Cup (especially by Ghana, while talented, not exactly known for its tactical astuteness). It left Dempsey and Donovan and the strikers way too isolated up top. It was far too difficult to move the ball from the defense to the attacking players, meaning connecting more than two passes together, much less maintaining possession, was impossible. I want to see us move away from long ball 4-4-2 and towards a more continental approach (something Klinsmann is trying to do, although it's really hard with the personnel we have right now).

I don't care what everyone says, Jozy is a top 10 fwd in the World... And I bet if he played in those top teams he would score well over 40 goals with so many stars around him...

We all love Jozy and think he's fantastic. I DO agree with you that I think in a few years he could be a top 10 striker in the world. Also, that's something you need to change in your statement. Forward's include the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar. So there are probably 20-30 better FORWARDS in the world than Jozy.

And as for 10 better strikers, I'll say it again: Tevez, Aguero, Higuain, Van Persie, Ibra, Cavani, Falcao, Balotelli, Lewandowski, Suarez, Jovetic. There's 11 for you. Again, Jozy is great, but not close to a top-10 striker in the world. Not yet.
