2tone, I know you called out Yedlin as a darkhorse shot at the WC team going back a year ago. Kudos for that.
But do you think he is good enough to be guaranteed minutes in a top 4 Euro league? He had a good WC, no doubt. Flew around like a rocket, got some good crosses in. But I still don't see much technical ability and vision/passing/awareness. And he is a damn midget so he does need to excel in some other areas.
Still plenty of upside though. I hope Seattle holds out for big bucks and he gets some PT in a big 4 league. I think the mental aspect is SO important for a US youngster to be successful in Europe (eg, Lando).

I think he could play at a mid to lower table team in just about any league. I don't think he'd be a great it in Italy though. Pace is far too slow and doesn't play to his strengths.

Yedlin has "Roberto Carlos legs" and at the height of his jumps, he is like a young Allen Iverson, who cares what his actual height is- Yedlin plays taller than that. The "pace" in Italy isnt that slow, and there are many fine attackers from Quadrado to Gervinho and on and on in the Italian league, for him to get experience while learning the game at the highest mental level.

The way that Yedlin showed up at the World Cup really shows that he can play against anyone and be the same player. He had the same mentality going into the Germany game for 20 minutes as he did going into the Belgium game for more then half the game. He's obviously got something to prove and I believe that mentality plus his raw talent is going to get him farther then most people think.

People annoiting Yedlin the next Bale or Lahm should watch the Seattle-Revolution match from earlier this year. Revolution afterwards admitted they game-planned to attack Yedlin and it paid huge dividends 4 goals came from attacking down the revs left wing.

He had an excellent World Cup, please just enjoy that before setting expectations for a starting place in a top 4 league. At this point it is just as likely he goes the way of Shea if he jumps now as he is successful. This is not about being negative just realistic and enjoying the moment and the performance without setting unfair expectations

None of those goals were Yedlin's fault. The first, most would blame on him, but it was a miscommunication btw him and Neagle. Yedlin stepped up to the ball, Neagle quit following the run because he thought he had Yedlin there....outside of that there's no blame there for any of the other goals.

Not a very credible source but here ya go, Liverpool supposedly has interests in Yedlin. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/48700... would be interesting to see if this is true.

That interesting because Brendan Rodgers isnt afraid to play young player and knows how to get the best of them. ei Sterling.

There's no way he would play for them. At least not this season. Would likely be loaned out, although with CL responsibilities now, he might want to keep Yedlin around as cover, considering he can play in multiple positions.

There are reports that Real Madrid are going to launch an aggressive bid for Raheem sterling. That would leave a whole for a speedy winger in the Liverpool team.

I have no doubt that Yedlin will be in a different Jersey in 6 months. What team jersey that will be? well let that the speculation continue.

Might be more credible, say this is on SkySports: According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are set to sign DeAndre Yedlin from MLS club Seattle Sounders. The newspaper reports that Yedlin, who shot to prominence at the World Cup with the USA, won't make the move to Italy immediately, but will head for the Serie A club in January or next summer.

And for those of you that understand Italian(the original link):

Michael Bradley went to Roma only because he was given assurances of getting significant playing time.

Yeah, that is why they are not looking to get him into the team immediately. Get some more experience, both in MLS and the national team under his belt and then make the move.

And Bradley made the move before they bought Strootman or if de Rossi was going to leave, which it seems like is a topic every transfer window but never happens.

1 more year in MLS is not going to allow him to grow enough to really assure averaging ~30+ minutes a game. Lower table serie a team would have been better for his development.

Yeah but Roma can always loan him out as well. Teams in Europe love his speed which you cannot develop. Plus they can afford to play him as a winger, which his crossing may be inconsistent at this point his career. But even if he plays at as a full back in Europe, they see his recovery speed as an asset. So I think he could make the move soon, at this very moment, no but he seems like he is a quick develop. He has made amazing strides even from this point last season. At the World Cup, he was definitely not out of his league on that level. Plus, he was one of our better performers at the last U-20 World Cup.
