Anyone else impressed by this kid in the early going?

Definitely. I thought he was quite dangerous when he came on. Gave the team a nice little boost. I'd like to see him start the next game instead of Zach Scott.

I can see why Sigi went with Scott. He is a better defender.

Yedlin has a lot of upside, but he needs to tighten up defensively. Still very young, and has a lot of time to get better with his defensive game. Maybe he gets that start at home.

With saying that, I am impressed by him especially considering his age.

He was getting absolutely burned in defense, but at least he went up to attack.. has a lot of upside but needs to work on his defense...

Absolutely burned???? He got beat twice, one was bad but it will happen with young defenders. He needs to learn quickly to not turn his back to the player....he got spun around rarely easy. The player was left-footed...you know he wants to get back to his left foot, so if he cuts back onto his right...let him have it. He has to realize that he had help coming too so his job was to shut him down and not let him get the line.

Scott got torched repeatedly in the CCL match, so it doesn't seem obvious that he's a better defender. Yedlin got spun badly once after he came on as well, so I'm not saying he is the better option, just saying Scott could use a lot of work on his 1v1 defending as well.

Scott Sucks

Yedlin is better offensively and I'd prefer to see him start

Not a fan of Scott, but he wasn't torched repeatedly. He was beat once really bad in the second half.

Would I rather see Yedlin? Yep, but I understand why Sigi went with Scott. You know what you are going to get with him on the road in hostile territory.

Like I stated I would rather see Yedlin playing the home leg.

The person who he got beat badly 1 v 1 is also Lucas Lobos one of the best players in Liga MX. He does that to a lot of defences. This is still great for his experience as he can only get better. If he does make it to Turkey he could be a big boost on the team.

I was impressed but more importantly was the fact that he was playing and what a great experience for him to be in a game like that given that he's one of the hopefuls to be included in the U-20 list for Turkey. Certainly RB is wide open right now for that group, hopefully he gets more and more minutes.

After seeing Parkhurst and Beltran do nothing at RB for Gold Cup as well as Chandler's inconsistency and Cherundolo's age... really wouldn't be crazy to see Yedlin make his way onto the plane to Brazil.

Bad defensively or offensively? I have lingering doubts about his defensive ability ceiling.

I didnt see any defensive problems but the both sides could barley complete 3 consecutive passes.

The only highlight of that game for me was paying $5 for nachos and then finding $5 dollars on the ground right after.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
