Huh. He is playing underneath Bent. Kasami is the LW.

Deuce looking like the old Deuce. Very active. Good first touches.

Fulham look like the Fulham of old this match thus far. Dempsey needs more than one chance per match, they're putting plenty of crosses in today.

Let's see how Chelsea change tactics the second half to see if they can continue in this fashion.

There are positives to take away from Dempsey's first half. His first touch is good and he is getting in dangerous positions. He is still crafty but lacks the pace needed to get by someone. He could have done better with that header but all in all an encouraging performance thus far.

for those not watching who want an unbiased assessment...

commentator criticizing dempsey for his lack of involvement, saying fulham need more from him and that he is lucky not to be subbed for

chelsea up 2-0

not sure how people (JK) can watch dempsey over last 9 months and think he is one of best US attackers. not even close

Dempsey looked good but not great in the first half, but truth be told he was at the same level as the rest of the Fulham players. He has look exponentially worse in the second half, and does not have the pace or touch he was known for in the EPL. He is also walking around the pitch for long periods of time, just like what Jozy has been doing. If these are our two top attackers, the rest of the team is going to have to pick up a whole lot slack in effort.

Have commentators even watched fulham games? Dempsey hasnt even been in the 18 for how many weeks and now he is expected to be a savior against Chelsea? That pathetic. At this point Fulham are screwed and will go down with all their mess. Now dempsey has struggle, he isnt at his best right now saying that and how Fulham are horrible atm and you couldnt expect much more. I mean we are talking about a team with the worst Defense in EPL. Definitely was a failed stint but at least there was no injury and he accomplished his objective to get fit. Now its time to see how he plays with his real team Seattle Sounders.

clearly dempsey has a become a player that "needs service". jozy is also known as a player that needs service.

no way that altidore/dempsey is our best option at this point

im about to start a altidore/dempsey??? thread to go with the bradley/jones thread

If he has a bad game against Ukraine, it will get harder and harder for Klinsmann to keep him in the starting 11 and as captain.

Right now I think there is a 50-50 chance that Deuce will not be starting against Ghana.

Whats weird as that JK says Altidore, Duece, Bradley, Jones, and Howard builds the spine on the team but mentions nothing about Landon Donovan. Duece better pick it up. If he has a great game against Ukraine, I'll take back what I said if he doesn't then JK will have to rethink his options. I'm pretty sure JK is smart enough to decide whether to play a out of form player or not, I remember Duece was in bad form in 2009 Bob Bradley replaced him with Stuart Holden.

Klinsmann was at the game too.

All eyes on Clint.

Yep, this is going to get real interesting, especially if we start with only one forward with Deuce at ACM in a 4-2-3-1. Against a quality opponent, that has the potential to look poor on offense. I never liked the Deuce as captain dynamic, totally understand why JK did it, but now he's painted himself into a corner. If you make a change with the captaincy, you risk a wobble in the locker room.

My two cents, now would be the perfect time to turn the team and captaincy over to MB and just deal with any fall out from JJ or Deuce. It would be too late later on as we get closer to the WC. Look to the future and give MB valuable WC experience as captain.

My guess if Deuce is removed of the captains armband that Howard is the likely new captain.

I think you're right, logical move - less risky. I'm not a fan of keeper captains, I'd rather it be a field player, CM or CB, but it would still be an improvement.

All USMNT coaches are stubborn. Bruce "didn't want to chase" players across Europe to get them to commit to the USA. Maybe he should have done so... Bob has his weird choices. Bornstein?.. And Jurgen seems to be the most stubborn of all. He frequently mentions the 'spine' of the team. No matter how poorly Jozy or Clint play they will be in the starting 11 vs Ghana and Landon will not.
If you don't love it, leave it, USA #1

I think you're right but I would give it to Bradley. When he went down with his injury it was obvious how instrumental he is to the success of our team. He'll likely get the armband in the next cycle but I'd give it to him already.

Yeah good point, for me the most interesting of JK's decisions is how Clint is still ahead of Landon at this point. Landon is a guy that gives great service and finishes, I want him to be our attacking option from the center of the pitch.
