This is good news I suppose, but I'm relatively sure Funes Mori is not a citizen. Re Hoyos he isn't the player he once was prior to his car accident a few years back. As much as I'd like to have him, if he was still at his previous level, he would still be representing Argentina or at least have been getting looks here or there. He was playing with the 1st team prior to his accident and from what I have seen he hasn't been so much as of late.

(Ever been told you look like mark cuban in your twitter picture?)
What I want to know is how did Jorge Ramos get this information?
Im sure all of us have done a wikipedia search on Rogelio Funes Mori. It says he was in the US from 2001 - 2009. If everything was done properly, thats enough time to get citizenship! Remember out of nowhere, we found out Aron Johannsson was born in Alabama ?????
This is the kind of stuff that pisses me of about Klinsmann. I was screaming for him to bring in a bunch of dual nationals vs Russia. Now it might be a possibility he's gonna call up unknown players into a WCQ?
I was hoping we had a friendly in march but I looked up last years schedule and there wasnt one!

Everything I've been told about Mori is that he's not a citizen and not even close. People I know looked into at the time.
As for dual nationals, go after them if they are game changers. Bringing in a bunch of dual nationals who are non-factors is just counter-productive. I'm talking about Hoyos because he actually is a US citizen. There is nothing to suggest he's even close to being good enough after that car accident. The guy barely has a career right now.
Klinsmann has bigger problems right now than trying to win over a guy who isn't playing. He should be more concerned about the fact that just about every single American player for the last year is playing worse for the USMNT than he is for his club.
That's a very, very serious problem

The dual national roller coaster............
Yeah, you and your sources are the most credible for this topic. Im gonna go out on a limb and say Mori might have gotten a passport very recently. Maybe it took 12 years to get it. All the information I see about him not being eligible was around 2008/09. Mabye he married an American chick at 16 (LOL)
I guess klinsmann is getting desperate seeing that our Euro based USMNT got schooled and out possessed by 4 MLS honduran players.
If the rumors are true and it does happen, its gonna make or break klinsmann. Ill be happy if hoyos turns out to be legit on the international stage and hoping it can boost his career too. Hoyos to the national team, and derrelle revis to the 49ers for alex smith will put at a 2 for 2 lifetime "i told you so's"

Here the thing about Mori too
It is next to impossible also to become an American citizen while living abroad. There are strict residency requirements in the naturalization process
Also, he played for Argentina's U20 team in 2009 (I think thats the year but maybe it was 2010) in an official competition. If he was not an American citizen at that time, he'd be unable to file a switch to playing for the USA

personally I don't have a problem if JK just called these guys to check in on them. We all know that sometimes the press makes these things in to bigger stories than they are. If Hoyos was called in for a friendly while he is not playing that would be a problem, but until that happens I am not sure what the big deal is.
If anything it sort of surprises me that JK is calling random dual nationals like these two.

Mori isn't even a dual national. He just lived here for a bit. He's like Ibisevic and Cai Correa

@bshredder- that makes sense. reminds me of Soumare and Fagundez's situation where they would have to wait a few years to play with the USA.

What about his twin brother? Ramiro Funes Mori. Since he has not played for any Argentina team would it be possible? Not that im concerned with getting him. Just curious.

I think what BShred was saying hinges more on the fact that even if the Funes Mori brothers would have started the citizenship process, they have since not maintained continuous residency in the US (as opposed to them simply playing/not playing for Argentina).

Anyone find out any new information on Mori or Hoyos rumor?
I only saw one comment on the MLS article where one person said:
"Just heard that Rogelio has not spoken with anyone from U.S. Soccer as of yet."
