I agree that Rogers had fallen off the national team radar well before his retirement and it would / will be an uphill battle to get back into the NT picture but that shouldn't negate from the fact that he has all the skills to be a very good MLS player whether its for LA or Chicago or any other team.

If he actually comes out of retirement and re-joins the MLS that would be a positive signing for the league.

Rogers isn't good. He is only getting attention because he came out, which isn't to say that might not be a good thing for sports (its all the rage right now, actually), but it means nothing for his skills... Or lack there of. He will shift this coming out celebration/publicity into a new job, so smart on him I guess, but really. He couldn't even break in at Leeds.

So what happened to Robbie? Did he get injured. He was good a few years ago. He looked at least decent in his few USMNT appearances. And, hey, even getting callups is syaing something.

Was it the gay thing torturing him inside and causing his play to deteriorate? Seems like he just dropped into nowhere after going to England, Eddie Johnson style.

I have a hard time believing he couldn't get back to a productive player in the MLS, although the Galaxy is the best team so it won't be easy to get minutes there.

Anyway, nice to see the Jason Collins announcement. Pretty much takes the spotlight away from Rogers.

I do wonder now that Rogers is open about his sexual preference if his game will be much better and much more consistent.

Dude has always had talent. You just have to wonder if not being open about who is really did cause his game to deteriorate.

Not being mentally there can cause a ton of problems emtionally, physically and socially.

We will just have to wait and see if he does actually come back to soccer if his game is much more mature, or if he still just only a great athlete.

The guy is still reasonably young at 25.

This. Now that he can get his mind off of that and focus soley on his football I expect him to be able to express himself on the field much better. As a Fire fan hopefully he signs with us. We could use his help on the wing.

Look, him coming out will, I agree, relieve him emotionally and stuff like that but if you think now he told he will become a much better player you're nuts. Look, he is/was/can still be a very good player but he never was truly good enough internationally. He's very fast but his other skills were never good enough. He is/was a good canidite for Gold Cup on non-confederation cup qualifying years. I like the guy but never thought he was NT material.

Ad hominem argument.
