Read the first line and knew where that was going.....didn't expect him to quit playing football though.

I didn't see where he said that. Mentioned a lot about quitting soccer though.

Good writing and good to see that he is at a good place right now. Hopefully he will continue playing as he does have something to offer. Definitely would be interesting to see how future teammates and opposing fans would treat this information.

I'm glad he came out... Should of done it a while back tho... I think he will come back hes just gonna take a break from the game, and i guarantee he will play much better, because he will feel more free with nothing holding him back......

Good for him. He could really send a strong message if he ever decides to return. He's only 25, he still has time to figure himself out and get back in the game if he so decides.

Yea, his career is over. Not that I am intolerant of gay people, but that would dramatically change the dynamic in the locker room of a team that had him. Just trying to be honest. Its not a very well accepted thing, and coaches prob won't wanna take a chance on it. Best of luck to him, but his future may not be in football...

True well he hasn't done much in the past 2 or 3 years... He hasn't been playing well.. Maybe if he does return he will play better.. He feels more free and pure, so if he does return im sure he will play much better..

I see no reason why he couldn't take a year off and then return to an MLS team. I think that he would have a lot of support from the league. Would he have some teammates that aren't happy? Sure, but there's no way that they would dare try to do anything, I mean Rogers would be protected by workplace harassment regulation.

If Rogers feels up for it, I think it'd be great to see him back on the pitch and there's no reason why the league/FIFA wouldn't be able to consider harassing anti gay chants in the same light as racism.

This is unbelievable brave of Robbie, hope he doesn't stay away from the game to long. I always liked his play on the field just felt he lacked confidence, maybe this changes things for him mentally.

Rogers was training with the Galaxy today. Landon Donovan in particular expressed interest in the Galaxy making a trade with the Fire for his rights.

Maybe the Jason Collins announcement has taken a bit of pressure off of him? Or maybe the timing is purely coincidental. In any event it would be good to see him back in the MLS.

Man the dude sucks! I mean come on the only reason he is getting recognition is because he's gay. They are just making a big deal out of it to gain more media attention... He should go back to league 1 football in England where he has a chance to actually play lol

What the hell is a moon fruit ? Is this real or a joke?

I realize this is an old comment but whatever it means, it gave me a good laugh for 20 minutes.

On a serious note, what ever rogers has going on, good for him

On a soccer note, Rogers isnt that good IMO. He looked like a clown at the annual Steve Nash game in NY. He had no possession skills and looked foolish. I hope his plan to "magically" play for LA doesnt give him the hopes of ever playing for the US national team ever again.

Ill never forget how stupid he looked at the 2009 GC final
