These conversations look almost identical to the Freddy Adu threads. Freddy Shea? Brek Adu? BraDu? Pick your favorite.

Except, Shea never looked good with the National Team. Adu's salving grace was always that he turned in very decent to outright outrageous performances given that he wasn't playing at his club. He was our only semblance of a 10 at times, in the 4-2 debacle against Mexico he had a huge part in BOTH goals. In the friendly against Spain in the beginning of their murderous streak, he was an incredible handful, drawing the plaudits of Puyol Ramos etc. Against Argentina, the game before, he gave us actual attacking threats, and so on and so forth. I really haven't seen Shea perform that way for the nats for the same amount of games. It's arguable, though, that Shea's had the better MLS and European career. Which probably means he will stay longer in the discussion, as that's more important to receiving successive callups.

You could also just point out the fact that Adu was good enough to be sought out by one of the top 10 clubs in the world at the time. Shea was sought out by a team that cant even make Europa League

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. So many people on here saying that he's washed up, he probably won't do much of anything at Birmingham, and he gets an assist in his first game.

Go on, Brek. Show em' what you got.

Much like a dead beat dad who every once in a while actually shows up to watch his son's little league game, you almost think for a second "man maybe he is turning over a new leaf", but then he fails to show up to his kid's birthday party the next week. Just let Shea go. He won't blossom into a consistent successful footballer. Please don't turn this into another Adu saga. Just let things go and shift focus to other players.

Good for Shea.

Navi: Your rhetoric about Shea is getting old man, really old.

Brek Shea is 24 lol How in the world can people compare him to adu? Adu never even touched the Prem League. Adu cant even start in the Serbian League lol. Anyways all Shea needs is playing time and then we can see how he stands with the National. He is at least a squad player in the national team if he can get consistent minutes. Not saying he can go good and get back to Prem or if he even is Prem level but he has qualities that can be useful. Yes he was beyond awful against the Czech but he didnt even deserve to be there considering his club status.

Might I suggest you take a couple of hours and watch the movie Kung-Fu Hustle

He needs to figure out a way to consistently stay in the starting line up. Good start for him...he needs to play play play...

It looked like the Striker did most of the work with the golazo not much of a good assist if you ask me. I found it more impressive with gyau making the 18 game day roster than Shea starting at Birmingham not much of a difference between them and FC Dallas. Anyways good for him hope he can transfer back to the Epl in January and play great this time. Also whats up with the Empty stadium ? no support for Birmingham.
