2tone. What's Your current list of CBs? Mine is probably wrong because I'm not as knowledgeable as some but here goes..

Boca (just because we haven't seen other options)
Hines (have to file 1 time switch but he may get promoted which could raise his stock)
Brooks (he may have the highest ceiling out of any of these players but has only been starting for a limited time)
Goodson (I think other people have higher ceilings)

I don't know how people can keep putting boca in top two. He's been playing in second division Spanish league since last year. People want to knock the mls but its better competition than secunda league.

My CB list:

The top four will most likely be the ones going to the WC 2014. Boca will prob drop even further next year.

Here are my rankings right now:

1. Cam
2. Gonzo
3. Besler/Boca
4. Hines- He could move up. Klinsmann has already stated that he has been following Hines. I would imagine a Gold Cup call-up will come. As long as he makes the one-time switch.
5. Brooks- He will probably be at least # 3 by WC 2014 in my mind, but right now he is #5 becaue he is young and inexperienced. A very good U-20 WC campaign this summer could really boost his stock. That assumes the U-20's qualify for the WC. If they don't, then I could see Brooks getting a Gold Cup call-up. A Hines and Brooks pairing could be very formidable at the Gold Cup.
6. Goodson
7. Ream
8. Berry
9. Hedges
10. John
11. Schuler

Thats my top 11.

Seb Hines would def be in my top four im just waiting for the switch and at least a camp call up before i call him a US center back. Hope it happens soon..I think Brooks will have a big 2013-2014 season with H. Berlin in the bundesliga and will get senior call ups if he isnt called up for the gold cup. Like the idea of Hines and Brooks pairing.

Gonzo is equally as slow as Boca.....Besler is the best option to counter that.

Ummm no he's not.

Looks like Gonzalez has been doing really well at camp. Wouldn't surprise me if he starts in Honduras.

How can you guys not include Onyewu anywhere in that list.

He has the best club resume out of anyone in our pool. He has more experience than anyone in our pool at CB (besides Bocanegra). And he provides leadership that the new guys will need.

Boca is moving on. At CB more than any other position (other than maybe keeper) you want someone with experience and leadership capabilities. Once Boca is gone we'll need someone who can fill that role.

How can you guys say Gonzo is better than Onyewu. They're very similar players but Onyewu has shown he can succeed at the highest levels (Gonzo still hasn't made it out of the MLS) and he's much more experienced. Onyewu had a bad game for us when he played for Klinsmann but he was just recovering from an injury. He is playing on a Champions League team this year. The last two seasons he was a starter at Sporting Lisbon and Twente, who are better than any MLS teams.

Gonzo is slow and has terrible touch. I don't think he has a lot of upside. Onyewu has the same weaknesses but I would rather have someone who has played for top clubs all over Europe and has played in two World Cups rather than some MLS guy unproven at the international level.

We have totally forgotten about Onyewu.

He has had is sturggles through the past couple years but now that we
are faced with injuries in the defense they should consider bringing him
back into the loop. He has great experience at the international level
which could come in hand now.

The only problem being is lack of speed to deal with those we will see
in qualifying. Boca has the same issue at this point. He has lost a step
and if it wasn't for his leadership he would have been dropped some time

I dont think people forget about Onyewu. Since his injury her hasnt been the same. Also since August he hasnt played much. Mostly just Cup matches and Champs league after they clinched. He should be out for the same reasons as boca

Oh I will add another name to my list at #12.

12. Ventura Alvarado- Age 21; currently seeing minimal minutes for Club America in Mexico, but will have the opportunity to become one of the starting Cb's in the summer due to Diego Reyes leaving to Porto. So don't be surprised to see this kid in the mix as well. If he does land the starting CB gig( and fans and coaches alike fully expect him to) he will move up the rankings to at least 5. He has stated multiple times that he would rather rep the Stars and Stripes over El Tri.

The coaches and fans are pretty high on him, and his cieling of development is considered to be high.

Onyewu is in the same boat as Boca, if he would of went to Malaga and set down a starting spot next to Demichelis then he would be in contingent for a US starting spot, but he didnt. 33yr old wellington starts over him thats saying something..after mistakes and so so performances gooch isnt goin to be in any US jersey anytime soon. Highy rated gooch before not the same player anymore..
