I like Italy the best for Jozy. Frankly I'm nervous to see him go anywhere that doesn't have the service he needs to succeed...

To Kamphgruppe's point, Everton would be a team he could do well at, with the quality that they have on the flanks, but with Anichibe really hitting his stride as a target man, I doubt they'd be interesting in bringing Jozy in.

I think he would be perfect for Everton. What everton has lacked is a finisher. Everton only have 5 losses the whole season. They have tied like 13 or 14 games. With a quality finisher they are a CL team for sure. This is the kind of transfer Altidore should strive for.

Yea he could go to Fio if they jettison Jovetic, which is likely. They have been scouting Jozy this season anyways... Right now they are number four in Serie A.

Yea Ernie Stewart said that Fiorentina was one of his main suitors the last couple of months. Wouldn't mind seeing him there!

I agree with the Everton idea. Fellaini is likely to be sold this summer so they'll have the cash to afford Jozy. Also on the possibility of a move to La Liga, Atletico Madrid are going to sell Falcao to the highest bidder this summer and while most of that cash could be used to settle some of the club's debts, they're also going to need a replacement up top. Altidore has experience (albeit minimal) playing in La Liga and could be a cost-effective replacement for Falcao. Just my two cents.

We will see.

One year left on his deal, AZ are a small club, and Jozy is closing in on 30 goals on the year.

Anything is possible but players like that usually leave.

In the goal.com article Ernie Stewart is trying to really change and twist what Verbeek said. Verbeek was very clear that he expects Altidore to be sold.

"It is expected that outside Viergever and Maher also Altidore will leave the club," said Verbeek in Voetbal International.

Ernie is trying change things up a bit

I hate reading transfer rumors. The most epic of Blue Balls for any USMNT fan. Great article, but I'm just gonna wait until he's at a new club and performing well for both them and the NT until I'm happy. Hoping for the best for Jozy.

I have no problems with Altidore staying one more season with AZ.

Since it will be a WC year, I would rather have Altidore in a stable club situation versus him moving in and out of a line-up during at a new club in an important WC year.

Also AZ and Earnie could be thinking that if Altidore has another outstanding year in Holland coupled with a breakout performance at the WC then they will be able to demand an even larger transfer fee for him. Altidore signed a 4 year contract I believe with AZ. He is only in year two of that contract which means AZ do not have to sell this summer.

I wouldn't mind too much but on the other hand, he's not getting any younger. He has already accomplished what he could here in Holland (get an insane goal rate) and it's time for him to move on to the next step in his development and go to a league with better defense. Ligue 1 would be perfect and he'd get playing time there. He'd learn a thing or two that could help us at the World Cup (French teams are great at developing strikers like him, eg Didier Drogba). I think Ligue 1 defenses are much better than the Eredevisie's and I'd like to see him playing there before the World Cup. The move could backfire though and he might not get PT or be on a bad team with no service or something like that. But I think it's worth the risk. Really glad he didn't go to Russia though. That would've been a step down. Luckily we have Stewart looking out for him.
