I must have missed Lampard's 'apology', or perhaps any alleged apology issued by him was missing real substance and sincerity.

Being drunk may provide some explanation for his mocking and taunting of stranded Americans on 9/11, but it is hardly an excuse for the outrageous misconduct in which he, John Terry, and several others were found to have engaged.

Any high profile foreign individuals who committed similar dirty rotten stunts against stranded English citizens on the very day of an equivalent English national tragedy would very well face serious questions asked, which would have to be well answered, or they would very likely be denied an entry visa to Britain as an undesirable.

Lampard's alleged intelligence has been much ballyhooed, particularly by the British media. Undoubtedly he realized the dire gravity and solemnity of the situation, and yet nonetheless chose to do what he did.

It makes one question what kind of heart, much less character, he has, as well as what kind of animosity he harbors towards Americans and the United States.

If MLS is going to continue to go the previously well trodden route of lavishing large amounts of cash on past their sale date has been European footballers, a la the NASL of the nineteen seventies and eighties, I would much rather MLS pursued someone like Steven Gerrard, or similar caliber, versus someone like Frank Lampard.

Unfortunately for MLS, the belief in England anyway is that Gerrard at thirty four years of age, still has something of value to offer, unlike Lampard at thirty six years of age. Based on each of their performances from this just past season, it would seem to be the case.

He's not playing for the USMNT. It's not really as important. I imagine there might be 20 players in the MLS who hate the USA passionately. In every sport league (NFL, NBA, etc).
