Actually the Venezuelan program is considered to be one of the up and coming programs/nations in South American football.
Not really a fan of new faces this close to qualifying

Whats the word on Zimmerman? Is he going to be fit come the Qualifying tournament. The only new faces are Guido, Kempin, and Miller really. All of the rest of these guys have been in a camp with Ramos recently. The only players that are missing are: Joya, Rodriguez, Stanko, and Pelosi. I wouldn't call it a B team at all I would call it an A- team.
Could be another blow for the qualifying team's defense if Zimmerman isn't good to go. He isn't participating in the MLS combine either.

I am watching Argentina V Paraguay at the Conmebol Sub 20 qualifying tournament. Neither of those teams look that good. From what I hear Chile has a really good team as well as Colombia and Ecuador. Brasil isn't fairing well either.

Uruguay was pretty special last night. They have an exact replica of Cavani in the squad. Plays for PSV. Faked me out at first.

Yeah Chile looks really good. They just cruised to a 2-0 win against Bolivia. I remember last year the Chilean U-20's beat the U.S. U-20's pretty comfortably twice in Chile, but suffice it to say that Ramos was in the early stages of hashing out the best players. That team didn't consist of Gil, Pelosi, Villarreal among others.

If the U.S. U-20's win their group; the one off quaterfinal game that decides who will qualify for the 2013 U-20 WC will be against either cuba or Nicaragua. Suffice it to say I like the U-20's chances of qualifying for the WC if we win the group. If we place 2nd well we will meet Canada, and Canada has a pretty good U-20 team this year. I would say the chances of the U.S. making the U-20 WC if we meet Canada in the quaterfinals is dramatically decreased. Canada has already beaten Ramos' squad in a tournament format in 2012.
Since there is only 2 games per group it is vital that the U.S. does not lose the first game. A tie wouldn't be the end of the world, but the U.S. cannot lose to Haiti.
The primary objective qualify for the WC. Secondary objective beat Mexico in the tournament final.

Argentina is losing to Bolivia right now.
This tournament could be the tournament that both Argentina and Brasil fail to qualify for the WC this up coming summer.
Group standings:
Group A
Chile: 9 points- Played 3 games
Colombia: 3 points- Palyed 2 games
Paraguay: 3 points- Played 1 game
Bolivia: Currently 0 points but leads Argentina 1-0; a win against Argentina will give them 3 points- Played 1 game
Argentina: 0 points- Played 2 games
Group B
Uruguay: 4 points- Played two games
Venezuela: 3 points- Has only played one game
Peru: 1 point- Has only played one game
Brasil: 1 point- Played two games
Ecuador: 1 point- Played two games
Top three teams from each group move on to the final group which is a round robin group with 6 teams.
The U.S. sub 20 team less than a month ago trounced Venezuela 4-0.
Could there be a changing of the guard going on down in South American football? Time will tell.
