Who predicted Parkhurst in January camp made a mistake. He signed with Augusburg in Bundesliga.

Seems like a good move if they don't get relegated

Even if they get relegated it's a good move. 2.Bundesliga is better than Danish league.

Horrible move.. they are gonna get relegated... Well there goes his chance of playing with the mnt... Besides, gonzo, cameron, besler are better than him..

Great move. If he gets PT then he can play next to cameroon in 2013 when Boca inevitably breaks down/gets hurt. He should easily be able help us get by our CONCACAF foes. And in 2014 if, they get relegated or he doesn't get PT then hopefully Brooks or Hines will be ready by then

A little exit interview.

If Augsburg is bringing him in, I would guess it means he will have a chance to play. It will be interesting to see how he does with the relegation pressure. Looking at their recent squads, I guess they want him to play RB.

The same parkhurst who throws his hands up because nobody is open for a pass and gets too scared to make a move forward?

@JFord - I will take your word for it.

Who knows, maybe he has a clause in his contract that terminates his contract if they are relegated. Still think it is a good move

It's a big risk, the 2. Bundesliga is probably worse than the Norwegian league.

But if Augusburg somehow survives and Parkhurst gets a decent amount of PT next season than he is surely a lock for CB besides Cameron, would you guys agree? Bocanegra will be too old and I don't know about Gooch...he doesn't fit JK's style too well and he was so bad last time he played for us (although he was coming off an injury). He'll be 32 in 2014 as well. Gonzalez is not there yet, IMO he is just a worse, less experienced version of Gooch. Then who else do we have? Goodson? Not good enough. Besler/Berry? Not international caliber. Ream? Not good enough. Orozco-fiscal? Not good enough. Whitbread? Can't be relied on to be healthy.

As far as players at other positions go, there is Lichaj, Spector, and Edu. Edu isn't playing but if he gets some games in I'd like to see him tried out there. Does anyone know if Lichaj can play as a ball-playing CB? He's starting in the Premiership. Surely he could get a nod above some of the guys above. And has anyone been following Spector? Could he play as a ball-playing CB?

I read somewhere that its a 2.5 year contract (ie rest of this year and two full seasons) with no out for relegation.
I dont see how this is a bad situation for him. Instead of playing in a top heavy league where he was going to be Europa league most likely. He know gets thrown into a relegation fight which brings added stress and mental toughness. If they get relegated he probably stays as a leader on the team to bring them right back up (another mental toughnes builder) not to mention the different league cups to get shots at the big boys. And if they dont get promoted I'm sure they'll sell him as a 1 year left guy instead of leaving for nothing.
Not sure what people wanted. He's the 5th-10th best defenseman from the 20-30th best country in the world. I don't think Top teams were lining up for his services. Could he have joined Swansea, or Reading, or QPR, maybe, but he'd be in the same boat.

@MSantoine: totally agree.

@everyone else: go read the ESPN interview with MP a few days ago. He basically says that he's seen all there is to see in Norway and is looking for a last big (relatively speaking) contract for him, his career, and the interests of his family. I like MP, but has MSantoine points out, he's not exactly the type of free agent that turns the heads of the bigger clubs out there. I'm sure he has a relegation clause and will end up back in the MLS in 2-3 years.
