It took the save of MLS history to do away a Jozy Header on target, that in my mind was sublime.

9/10 on that save. Be fair. You can imagine a save just like it but 10/10.

My cynical two cents.

Jozy had fantastic form all through the playoffs, but Frei should have never had the opportunity to make that save. Jozy had the entire flight of the cross in front of him...practically uncontested into space... he mistimed and overran the cross which left him with a no momentum desperation jump to get his head on the ball...resulting in a no power looper... his run absolutely killed him...that ballon header was in the air for an eternity enabling Frei to make a great play.... Should have been a snap header off the chalk.

Nice give and go, still had quite a bit of work to do but used his pace and a precision finish.

He's back from his thigh injury. Played a good first half. Should've had a goal if not for a great save by Sommer. Hopefully we'll see fabian in this contest too.

Bobby Wood with an awesome solo consolation goal. I can only imagine how many goals he would have if he was on a better team. I think he would fit in nicely with Dortmund if Aubmeyang leaves this summer.

Hard fought game. Two clumsy challenges in the box lost it for them. Nice consolation goal for Bobby. Fabian got 20 mins at the end.

I agree 100%. He's strong, he has great positional awareness, he's got great pace.

Easily the best striker in our pool. I think if he stays healthy and continues to grow for club and country, he could be our record goal scorer at the end of the day. Dempsey got his 8th goal by his 28th cap and Bobby Wood is sitting on 8 at 29 caps. Without the injury I thinks would be 2-3 goals behind Donovan instead of 5. I think Wood is a better pure striker than Dempsey and Dempsey is our best striker of all time.

WHats going to hurt wood is Dempsey and Donovan came through when our pool was extremely shallow so they were in their for a long time. Wood willl be competing with Morris, green, McKinnie, Rubin, and many more. Our players are going to start having much shorter runs advanced a national teamer. And that's a good thing by the way.

Or maybe 10 years, a long run, but only 30 to 40 caps. But I understand and share your sentiment.

Implicitly, what this does is, maybe, turn Morris around and make him analyze his game.

"Ok this is what I can do now, but what can I do in order to complement Wood and stay relevant for the Nats. I can become more Dempsey like. Stop trying to run with the ball into the box at every pass (that's not a bad thing btw, that's a GREAT thing Morris does, it's his functionality at the moment) and become more methodical and incisive with my passing.

Personally I want to see Morris and Wood build a front two partnership. I still remember what those two did to Germany when they were on the field together.

Morris's dummy was wonderful, beautiful.

That right there shows that selfishness in attack can work for the team if both stirkers are hungry. Morris's gesture wasn't entirely altruistic he probably wanted a return pass, but Wood shook his man off with his touch.

I couldn't agree more. Amassing significant caps & statistics has always been difficult due to the limited number of games that the national team plays on an annual basis. The ability to remain healthy plays a huge part, but it is going to become more and more difficult as the quality & depth of our player pool improves. The generation of players containing Bradley & Jozy is likely the last generation of players that will have a chance to rack-up the big numbers, and even they are under significant pressure/challenge.
It wasn't that long ago that players like Zelalem, Hyndman, CCV, etc...would have been rushed into Sr. Team games based on their potential alone. Now young talent has to actually earn call-ups through their play at the club level, like Pulisic has. Add in the number of quality players/prospects competing for spots and it's going to be very difficult to surpass the stats that Donovan, Dempsey, & Colby have racked up. Truly significant talents like Pulisic will have a chance if they can stay healthy, but I think they're going to become the exception rather than the norm.
