Didn't like Wood in his first game, but loved his flare and work-rate and eventual goal-scoring prowess he found after the initial minutes he played. Even when he isn't score goals I prefer him on the field to most of our forward options.

Well, he bit dick in his 1st 2 USMNT appearances. I'd like to think everyone was hoping it was an anomaly (and/or that he'd improve).

With the way everyone overreacts though that is not what everyone was thinking. They never wanted him near the USMNT again.

He didn't really bite dick in his first two games. He was turning Colombian defenders with ease. USMNT Fans just are ridiculous over reactors about performances from game to game.

I have always stated it takes about 5 games with the national team for a player to really settle in. Wood has always had a crap ton of talent. The best attacking player by far from the 2011 US u-20 cycle/team that boasted: Agudelo, Rowe, Lletget, Gyau, Doyle, Salgado, Ruelas, Eder Arreola.

There was the Ecuador game where his touch failed him miserably in front of goal, then we gave up the game tying goal which magnified that miss. I think it's the Landon Donovan farewell match.

Now...

That in NO WAY shape or form means he was a player not worthy of our setup.

But the fact that he was in second division German league not scoring goals really rubbed people the wrong way. We had forwards (i'm going to blindly state that, pls someone verify or rebuke that) who were producing in the mls not getting called up.

Bobby Wood was a talent who went to Europe early, caught Klinsmann's eye, and he favored him for awhile. That turned out to be justified. But at the time it was, in my opinion certainly justifiable to be a little skeptical. Same thing with Morris. He was a college student with NO professional experience. Kudos for JK for thinking outside the box, I think that speaks to his mentality. Which is often derided. But you can't say those WEREN'T risks. Or weird decisions.

correction, it was at the end of the game, ecuador had already tied

again one miss doesn't define a player, but that's why people were unhappy, 2nd division non producing player who jk favored muffs a sitter. that's not unreasonable.

Yeah, you're right. I know some idiots wanted to ban him for life. Plenty of people on here who take 1 or 2 data points as a trend.

Now, the Zardes 10 data point trend of brickfooting is something I can accept.

Started in Hamburg's DFB-Pokal match vs FSV Zwickau. 0-0 at halftime. Haven't seen any commentary on his performance.

Looks like Bobby is going to have a big year in the red shorts. That goal was great but typical Bobby Wood goal. Hold off his defender, take a half chance and shoot a rocket into the back of the net.

should never ever be a winger for the USMNT if JK puts him on the wing im going to lose it. The guy is good at two things and that positioning and scoring goals. Needs to be a ST

Fantastic goal...deft first touch...body positioning and strength...then an accurate bomb on the run...The dude better be our first choice striker.

All comps? Or just the Bundesliga? Cuz I'll go with 14 as well for all comps.

Great goal. Great start to the season.

He's so strong, love his game.

I'd definitely say over 12 and hope he keeps getting starts with USA at CF.
