Has there been a more impressive yank abroad this season than Bradley? He was absolutely awesome today for Roma.

In my opinion Bradley is the most important field player for the USMNT now. Not Donovan nor Dempsey. Now it's all about finding a good #6 because Bradley is so much better as a #8. Perry Kitchen I am looking at you. Williams continues to struggle, and Klinsmann doesn't want Jones as the #6. Kljestans defense is still questionable. Possibly O'Brien, but he is more of a #8 as well. Hmm. Any suggestions?

I know some will say Holden, but lets see how he looks first. Personally if Holden does come back strong than I do see a Bradley and Holden partnership going forward with Deuce at CAM.

Been saying it for quite some time...it's going to happen. Until then Williams will suffice as he is good...people have to remember he has only played there a few times now, he had a bad game last one....he will pick it up.

Williams needs to improve his passing, otherwise we will have a hard time holding on to the ball.

4-5-1!
Personally I'd like to see dempsey lineup out wide left, he has always IMO prospered by finding space out wide and drifting inward. Bradley and maybe holden or COB or Mix as the #8's and Jones needs to be the #6! We just need to find a very good and consistent TARGET FORWARD to make the USNT attack click!

dempsey----------------donovan
----holden/COB----BRADLEY-------
------------jones-------------

God no......at least God no IMO. Jones at the 6??? He isn't disciplined enough to play the 6. He would hang our defense out to dry too many times a game..he loves to roam forward far too much. With our CBs where they are right now...we have to have a lock down 6, someone extremely disciplined about covering the back-line.

he roams forward because he has been playin as a #8. He is a very good defensive center mid and probably our best pure tackler in that position. If klinsmann told him to hang back and protect the backline I think he could be veryy good there; IMO.

Agreed. He's got the tools just needs to put it all together for 90min at a time.

By pure tackler....do you mean overly aggressive tackles that usually result in FKs? We can't afford to give up FKs inside the 25 as a lot of the goals conceded lately have been FKs. Not only that, you can't have your 6 getting cards every game. We have seen Jones at the 6, and he did exactly what I said, pushed forward too much which lead to dangerous counters...I think it was a game last January maybe....as much as you say Williams needs to take care of the ball, the same could be said of Jones.

Rumors started last week of Kevin Strootman heading to Roma

Today more and more people are saying it's a done deal for around 17.5 million

And yes, maybe I'm jumping the gun on this.. There are too many rumors that never happen.

For that price he'll be a definite starter. Better hope, for Bradley's sake, Roma sell Pjanic or DDR.

surprised to see that cameron has not come up yet in this conversation. id say he is best 6 option. if you are trying to get best 11 on the field, as of right now i think it would be 3 in the middle - bradley, jones and cameron

x-mas tree

---------altidore--------
----dempsey---donovan---
---bradley-cameron-jones---

cameron holding allows bradley and jones to push forward and provides cover for fabian and chandler to bomb up the wings.

dempsey and donovan can essentially work inside or out - wherever the space is

yea, JK tried 3 in the middle, but for me cameron is a superior player than williams / edu / beckerman

will be very interesting to see cameron's role with stoke this year

Two CM's thats it. Thats it! We've learned over these last two years that we are effective when its only TWO CM's, and both need to be able to defend and provide nice passes to the attack.

ok. bradley and jones it is. so we'll either see how well jones can stay at home to give bradley the freedom he needs or we will see bradley constrained by a system that forces him to basically stay at home most of the time. also we will see how we handle world class counter attacks when one (or both) make runs forward and we lose the ball

i think folks are kidding themselves if they think JK will bench jones at some point. and if they want that to happen, they better root for bradley/jones looking really poor in a few high profile matches sometime between now and may. and there will not be all that many games. cameron, holden and every other CM option will need to root for that also

this also means we will see how either beasley or zusi (depending on where fabian plays) can handle the massive step up in competition they will face at WC. frankly i think cameron or holden (both with EPL pedigree) would fair much better at that level

JK has experimented with 3-man CM with the wrong players... seems like it would be worth experimenting a little with the right players

oh - and with 2 CMs dont expect OBs to be getting forward very often against the quality we will face at WC

with a guy like cameron, who is comfortable dropping onto back line, at #6 fabian and chandler would have WAY more freedom to get forward. oh well
