Where a rehte goals coming from? Simply put Dempsey. When was Donovan scoring goals and creating goals when he was playing against Guatemala, Canada, and Antigua last June? He didn't provide much in the attack. look Donovan will go down as a legend, but he is not an intregral part of the USMNT attack anymore.

If thats your logic, the entire team should be revamped. Because nobody was scoring and very few chances were created. When Donovan is healthy, he is still a starter on this team.

Im as excited as the next guy for Zusi, Gyau, Shea and the likes to step up and take over for Donovan. But with Donovan and without Donovan, my biggest concern is our attacking midfield as a whole. We're good at moving the ball through the middle of the field but once we get into the attacking third, we struggle. 3 holding/defensive mids on the field at the same doesnt work. We still need that #10 like playmaker and the closest player we have to that is Freddy Adu. People can cry about his club play and how he doesnt get along with his coaches, but theres a lot of behind the scenes stuff that we dont know about, and honestly I dont care. I watched Adu's 2012 highlight video and wow, how bad are the Unions forwards!? The dude basically serves up point blank shots for these guys in almost every game he plays. Then I watched the U-23 Olympic Debacle and the some of the 2011 Gold Cup. The dude can flat out ball. His soccer awareness rivals Bradleys at this point. He can shoot from range and is accurate. His passing is definitely at the top of our pool. He can possess in tight spaces and he creates a ton of space on the attack. That said, I want to see Dempsey - Adu - Donovan with Jozy or EJ in front of them come February. But its probably a longshot.

The US as a whole has struggled to score and create chances, but in club play, MLS specifically, nobody has created as many chances from open play as Donovan has since 2011. (via @OptaJack)

I follow Freddy on twitter and it seems like he talks about being injured quite a bit. Is that one of the reasons he hasn't been called in?

I'm not excited about Zusi at all. He's no better than a good MLS player. He doesnt have the pace to play wing against high level international competition and he doesnt have the creativity or technique to make a difference as a center attacking mid at a high level.

Shea and Gyau are natural wingers. They are younger players than Zusi with far more potential. They are better athletes and better footballers. They have an ability to recover on defense and beat defenders in attack that Zusi doesnt have.

@munns5986 I follow Adu on Twitter as well and he hasnt tweeted in 2 wks. The last Ive heard is that he's training with Galatassaray in Turkey.

Maybe the reason Adu doesn't get a call up is because he's a loser as a teamate. Since 2008 here were his team results.
Monaco- Middle pack. No where near europe qualification
Belenes- Relegated
Aris- Euro LeagueQualifying Round
Caykur - 4th place. Failed to get promoted back to top division
Philadelphia- 8th place finish in 2011, 15th out of 19 teams.

The one year he plays in most of his teams games (2012) is when the team does the worst.

@Msantoine can you be any more ridiculous lol? How many guys on the US National team play for non Champions League sides (rhetorical)? And believe me, no one man on a football pitch can win or lose a game by himself. Do you think if Messi and Ronaldo dont play for 2 of the most talented teams in the world, they still win? Get real.

Since Adu left Benfica all they've done is win one league cup, make a champions league quaterfinal, make a europa league semi final and win numerous portuguese domestic cups.
Look at someone like Dempsey. 2 MLS finals in 3 years (rookie year was conference finals). Then he joins Fulham and saves them from relegation twice. Then leads them to a europa league berth. And then a euorpa league final appearance. Thats a winner.

@bjelks Not saying he is injured currently. Just saying I though I remember always seeing something along the lines of it was good to get back on the pitch after this "insert injury".

ESPN confirmed that he'll be returning to the Galaxy. I'm glad that he's not hanging up his boots.
