As I keep preaching, I think we have a better chance with Parker and Green for the World Cup squad.

Not sure why all the praise for Parker in the first half and then being subbed out early in the second.

With Julian Green committed to #USMNT, do not be surprised if '93 Mainz striker Shawn Parker joins up too.

So, this got tweeted yesterday by the USAprospects guy and I looked up the German U-21 team and noticed Shawn Parker was left off the roster a few weeks ago.

I guess we'll find out in a couple weeks.. I know Klinsmann will offer him a world cup roster spot.

At this point parker is not good enough for USA. The guy is not even on the bench for Mainz. He is a waste of time. A player that doesnt like USA and is thinking ahhh whatever I could play for USA the guy will never ever come close to playing for even Germany's B squad. I hope he never plays for USA. The dude is a bandwagon now that green committed he thinks he could do the same. He hasn't done anything in a looking time in other words he SUCKS!!!

Your a joke if you think he sucks. He was a core German Youth nationaler from U16 through U19. They obviously knew he was/is talented. He also has over 20 bundesliga caps, how many of our attacking players can say that? He has more bundesliga goals in his career then Jozy has EPL goals. I dont think he's a starter by any means but I'd take him over Bedoya, Zusi, Agudelo, Shea, or EJ for sure.

At this point, it would be a mess to bring Parker in last minute before the WC. At least Green has played in a camp and now in a friendly.

Parker was approached numerous times and still hasn't switched. Just to switch now would reek of opportunism could run detriment to building a team.

I am very confident Parker will switch to the USMNT but after the WC. He'll be on the Olympic team too.

Im ok with that. May have over exaggerated a bit due to the ridiculus claim that he sucks. Anyone who makes 50+ appearances for German youth teams does not suck

No, they don't suck but it doesn't mean they are good enough for the USMNT either.

Fabian Hurzeler would probably switch to the US in a heartbeat but at this point, who cares? He had a lot of hype but he's not at Bayern Munich anymore. He's with Hoffenheim's U23 team and still doesn't have a pro-contract.

Parker is obviously better than Hurzeler but projecting a young player's trajectory is extremely difficult even for trained scouts - who get it wrong a lot too.

Why all the vitriol my friend? Parker is young and still highly rated by the staff at Mainz. If he switches to the US it can only be a positive. Maybe he doesn't pan out but we've lost nothing. Plus a sub issue that bears mentioning is the fact that Parker (if memory arced me correctly) has brothers in the youth academies at Bundesliga clubs (Mainz as well perhaps?) so if he switches and has a good experience perhaps it might give the US a foothold with the younger Parkers as well

I still would take zusi, bedoya, agudelo, over him anytime. I bet those 3 would of done way more than parker in the bundesliga. The guy hasn't done nothing like in the past
2 yrs or so. So yes he Sucks now. Doesnt mean he will get better.

Well that's your opinion ha, but last I checked they don't give professional contracts to players who "suck".

Funny because everyone here bashes on some players and say they suck, like wondo, ej, beckerman, Robbie rogers, sacha etc.. Yet they have professional contracts. Poop burned.

That is completely different. Parker is at the beginning of his career working to break into a team in a top league in the world. Guys like Kyle Beckerman and EJ were all once promising starlets just like Parker is a player who has shown much promise. You cannot say Parker sucks because the players you named have hit their own ceilings in terms of talent and that ceiling is below what some people would consider to be USMNT caliber.

Word was that Parker is a bit immature and that was hurting his consistency and attitude. But he can play winger, so we reallllyyyy should pay attention.

One of the smartest post i have ever read. You are spot on with this and his brothers rate higher then he does in germany.
