Looking at the September & October Qualifiers I'd project the RB's as follows:
1) Evans - Has started in the last 3 qualifiers and the B&H friendly. He's done well (not great, but not bad either). He continues to start.
2) Cameron - Did OK when forced into the role earlier this year for the National team. He's getting minutes there for his club as well. Regardless of his projection at RB he'll still be with the USNT due to his ability to cover CB & CDM as well.
3) Lichaj - Getting full games with his club and performing well. IF he keeps it up he'll likely leapfrog Cameron to the 2nd slot....as his skill set fits the coaches style of play better than Cameron. IF he is called into Sept. camp IMO he becomes the #2 RB by Oct.
4) Parkhurst - Stock is dropping and will continue to drop as long as he remains a DND and DNP for his club side. Only higher than Chandler (Right now because of his GC experience/play).
5) Chandler - Greatest potential, but has been poor for his club. IF he gets his act together will leapfrog quickly.
6) Yedlin/Ferrell - first looks will not come until the January Camp-Cup-Cake for MLS'ers and Scandinavian players. Until then they will remain in the back of the pack.
Unlikely but possible - Fabian Johnson could shift to the RB spot....but I just don't see it happening. He has the skill & ability to make the shift, but with LB being just as week, I don't see him switching.

You think that there will be a camp cup cake this january? It's hard to say what Jurgen will do that month knowing it WC year and no point in putting young players because they wont make it to WC squad?

I always see a positive for Camp Cupcake. There will always be one or two sleepers in the final WC year.

Totally agree with 2tone. Its hugely important for our national team. Guys like Cameron, Zusi, Besler, Evans, and OG wouldnt be regulars without it. Also it looks like Mixx being sent home from it lit a fire underneath him so he got a huge benefit too. With mos of our players leaving the scandanavian leagues (thanks MLS) it looks like theres even more of a chance it'll be an MLS all-stars/rising stars camp. Other than COB (who hasnt gotten a look yet) and Mixx (I bet he leaves in winter transfer window) we seem to have outgrown the Scandanavian leagues as an area to grab players. Will be nice to see some of the recent U20s and U23s in MLS get together and play a team like Venezuela or Ecuador Bteam

Odds to start at RB in Brazil

Chandler-40% - One of two players in the pool that has/could play in a big 4 league. A natural fullback. Still young so could improve. If hes a regular for Nuremburg in spring 2014 he's the starter regardless of if he plays in the sept/oct qualies.

Cameron-25%- If he starts at RB for Stoke all year how is he not a favorite to start their in Brazil?

Parkhurst-10% - He could become a bundesliga regula. He's older than other two and further from a starting lineup.

Fiscal- 5% - Looked decent in gold cup. If he leads Puebla to a deep playoff run he could get some looks, especially if Chandler and Parkhurst dont break into the lineup.

Evans-5% - Holding down the fort now so he's in the discussion but its hard to see him being our best bet come June 2014

Lichaj- 5% - Hasnt been in JKs plans to date. Seems like he has to play almost perfectly to get a look. May need a team MVP performance to be the starter in Brazil

Yedlin/Farrel-5% each- You never know. Some players explode their second season, some slump. If either of these two finishes this year strong, including a playoff run, they probably feature in jan camp. Perform well there and they are in the discussion.

Thats how I see it and where I'd lay odds for each contender

Not the worst post I've seen on YA. Forgot Dolo and Fabian though. Bump Parkhurst down a little - he ain't getting any PT. And get rid of Fiscal and Farrel.

Awesome news. Dolo not to miss much time!! Hopefully he was one more great World Cup run in him. If so our WC XI would be solid!!

Don't think Dolo will be starting back there for us honestly. Nor do I think AJ will start. It's Zusi's starting spot to lose, but I can see a 60th minute-ish sub for AJ to come on for the final 30. We could do some things with that starting 11 though.

If he starts for Hannover and plays well leading up to the WC Dolo will most definitely start. No doubt about that. If you're fit and the Captain of a Bundsliga squad you are starting on the USMNT. As for AJ and Zusi, its AJ all the way. I love Zusi and his deft crosses but watching AJ his crosses are also deft but he brings much more to the table.

With Landon retiring, I noticed a few guys on here talking about Landon as a future coach.

Hardly. A prima donna like that should not be in charge. Know who should? Dolo. Had his testimonial at Hannover on the weekend, and he is working on acquiring his coaching license while being an assistant on the U-23 team over there. I think he is being groomed to be the future first team coach there, and I could absolutely see him as a future manager of the USMNT.

Where I haven't agreed with your assessment of Donovan as a player, he's definitely a little bitch, and I don't want him anywhere near the coaching staff of the full NT. Cherundolo would be the PERFECT player to coach transition. He's always been a bright one. That said we'll see how he develops as a coach. I think he will do splendidly with Hannover.

Agreed. It's the perfect situation for him, to bece acclimated to coaching. He's doing it at a club that he knows inside and out. Eventually he will become the first team manager, which in itself would be a huge deal for American soccer. Would he be the first American to manage a club in one of the big 5 leagues?
