It is absolutely aggravating the approach that some MLS teams take when it comes to decisions that impact the MNT. Doubt this would happen in too many countries.

Also, is Alvarez not being on the list indicative that he's going to hitch his wagon to Mexico? Or is it because he's on the young side for an Olympic year?

Kreis stated that Efrain still hasn't made a decision.

Huh, don't most European teams not release player for the Olympics? Why should MLS teams be any different? What needs to happen is Fifa needs to make it an official tournament.

Olympic qualifying overlaps with the FIFA window this time around, so teams have to release players. I don't think any team can say no.

That being said, apparently the issue with Atlanta's players is due to quarantine and covid restrictions causing them to miss time once they return, which is maybe somehow ok? Not entirely sure but I think that theres an exception to the rule due to covid?

And FIFA can't make Olympic qualifying an "official" tournament because the Olympics aren't affiliated with FIFA. Completely separate, and intentional, because there is already a World Cup. We aren't allowed to even wear our federation badge on our shirt during the actual tournament.

Yeah, I am aware of all that, but if Fifa wanted to they could work with the Olympic committee to make it happen. It would be beneficial to the IOC as well because they would have a better product to showcase with better players.

As far as Atlanta is concerned the coach is not an American and it doesn't benefit his career at all to release useful players to go play in the Olympics.

How about how Konrad never plays for Barca and is available and didn't come. Yea Barca aren't required to do anything but what is the downside for them? That he gets injured??? That's a risk every time he plays in the bottom level of Spain for Barca B where I'm sure they are a target just as much as a youth tournament in concacaf. He should've went to Hertha Berlin when he had the chance he would be playing every week or damn near it in the bundesliga. I believe that McBride and Kreis and maybe others even tried their best but what the hell is wrong with Barcelona???

Maybe his release form was in the box with the things the police took.

Both Aaronson and Konrad were not on that list... so maybe they'll be with the senior team?

Given that one of the senior games is in Austria, I'd guess you are right on Aaronson, since that would be minimal disruption for his continued acclimation to his new new team.

Really? I'm not worried. Roster is good enough to make it to the Olympics. And quite frankly I see some of these guys making the WC team.

I see potential problems in the defense and creativity in the midfield. I can see some of these players at the next WC and that's definitely a big step up from regional Olympic qualifying (where the coaches can't pick who they want). I like some of these guys too- but the familiarity that Costa Rica has with each other has always been a problem. Mexico's squad is stacked comparatively. It's tough to qualify and if these guys do I think it will be an achievement.

I'm bummed that Robinson wasn't released...central D is a little weaker without him, but should be enough if we possess and keep the heat off of the D

I'm not worried about the attacking mid. I think Uly or Saucedo will pick up that role, either by position or tucking way in from the wing on the attack.

Depending on the strength of the opponent, probably Yueill in a deep distributor quasi 6 role. Against Mexico I could see more of a double pivot with Dotson as a pure destroyer 6 paired with Yueill as the 8/6 distributor.

I like the roster, seems balanced with fundamentally solid players that should combo well. I'm sure we'll see Ferriera as a false 9, which imo, is a really great approach.
