Aaron Long won't be going to Liverpool if any scouts were watching last night! Some of his simple passing was shit

It will be interesting to see how much Arriola will play for Swansea and where they will play him.

They usually set up in a back three so if he plays presumably it will be as a right wingback, which defensively is in his locker. He has the drive and tenacity to compete in the Championship but he will definitely need to improve upon his crossing if he wants to play significant minutes.

Even if he doesn't play much, I am sure they will see his deficiencies at crossing the ball and he will get a heavy dose of instruction on how to improve.

So in all likelihood he should return a little better player than when he left and add further competiition to the outside back pool (IMO there is no way he should be considered a forward or winger for us with the talent we have).

I think Morris/Paul A are in a good spot.

A Long has to be pissed at Red bulls if he really wants to move overseas they have screwed him not 2 yrs in a row.

Reynolds is in a good spot as well, prob best he didnt go to Juve-looking fwd to seeing what he can develop into

Long's situation may be tied into the Upemecano situation at RB Leipzig. Upemecano will be sold in the summer. It is possible that Red Bull are planning on buying Long on the cheap over the summer as a possible inexpensive replacement so they are not accepting offers for him now.

This is purely speculation on my part. Because of empty stadiums revenue will be down for all teams. Upemecano's sale will bring a huge payday just like Werners did and they will be happy to keep most of the money to pay wages.

That's not a wild thought. You could be on to something...

Long has stated he wants to be in the Premier League, but the Bundesliga is the next best thing. Considering what you've outlined... it does make some sense when you look at everything at play.

I would still be pissed if I were Long. If he had gone to Liverpool and played under Klopp that woud've been an awesome experience. Also, it would've raised his international profile tremendously.

I am guessing it was the transfer fee. Klopp stated on some interview with Goal that clubs wanted crazy transfer fees. The logic behind going to another Red Bull team makes sense but there has been nothing formally announced.

Also, it is short term risk versus long term reward. If Long had done well, he could've raised the bar for future transfer fees for the Red Bull organization. Also, it hurts Long himself. If there is a stoppage and now that a transfer wasn't secured. This will drive his value down even further. I do think in about a year, we will know why, he didn't occur.

I think Long is a good player but needs a good coach to bring out his best. Also, I can't imagine he would be entirely happy with the Red Bulls organization at this moment in time.

Aaron Long couldn't make a long pass against T&T with zero pressure on him. I put him in the category with Robinson where he is limited for an offensive game. Their athleticism provides them chances but aside from his 1v1 defending I don't see much out of Aaron Long that McKenzie or Richards or even Palmer brown couldn't do. I get it that Long has a good mentality which I do rate. But he was never going to go to Liverpool. Come on guys let's stay realistic as the best players play for better teams. Even Dest to Barca was a buy for potential at the moment he's no Dani Alves. Sure Long needed a move but that won't make it so. His poor play last year was I'm sure a contributing factor, he wasn't the convincing rock at the back CB during club play.

I'd have to argue that Dest is a better dribbler than Alves and has just as good touch

I said he was bought for potential. But his current production, mentality and form aren't that of your classic Barca player. He needs time to grow into that spot. He has the talent yes but needs to turn that into performances. All part of his growth.

These USA guys in general haven't gone from scrubs to stars overnight most are somewhere in the middle. We just need enough players to pan out and that's ok.
