Haha omg you're still doing it. You're still complaining about Arriola. You're proving my point and it's on full display.

And let's not forget that you were the one who said that playing Adams at RB one time, in his 2nd game in charge, caused GGG to forever lose all credibility with you.

I'm sorry, but calling it for what it is, you are in no way an objective critic.

I never said calling in Paul was experimental. I said he was a known quantity, and I laid out a scenario where he could realistically get called into a WCQ. And that is clearly causing your head to explode.

The average age of the team is 22. Dike, Akinola, Alvares, Amaya (pre-covid), Perea, Farfan, McKenzie, Araujo, Aaronson, Mueller... I mean... come on man! And you're still bitching about Paul Arriola? Come on man!

Take your emotions out of it, because its clouding your ability to be an objective critic.

The general consensus is that this camp is far more about the u23 team and the Olympics, so I don't really care about that average age. Because we didn't qualify for the last WC, I could give a shit about the Olympics or the Nations League. Everything should be focused on qualifying, and getting the best 23 for qualifying. I 100% believe that Berhalter still views WAY too many older MLS guys as part and parcel to the best 23 for qualifying, and his comments about Arriola are emblematic of this.

And yes, putting Adams at RB remains a stupid thing to do, whether it is Berhalter or Nagelsmann doing it.

After being with the A team in November, he went from a "Whose Who" to a "Who Cares"

I watched the last 2 practices, to be honest it was a total cluster. There was 1 other guy watching with me, a ups driver, he looked at me and said what college do these kids play in lol.

I told him it was the National Team that had call ups from mls-he thought I was joking and I had to pull it up on the internet to show him.

To be fair, they were playing 8v8 with the intent of working out from the back-but it was brutal. Zimmerman I guess was the best performer only bc the keeper passed it to him every time from about 3 ft away but neither team could get it past half. GB called everyone together with his clipboard. They came out of the break with alot more intensity but still looked bad.

Aarson had one touch a shot on goal, D Dike had some good hold up play zero shots. Efrin never say the ball, Mueller touched the ball 1x didnt do much.
Again, to be fair I saw their 2nd and 3rd day of practice so these guys are young, in camp for the first time, so its not fair to judge to much from 8v8 but at the same time it was hard to watch-I stayed each day for about an hour.

D Dike I think will have a chance B.Aaronson and Zimmerman-seems like GB is recruiting the other duals but from the play they didnt really stand out

Was able to get tickets to the game so look fwd to seeing how these kids look

Also, what is really funny is how even so much as bringing up Arriola potentially getting called in for WCQ... something that is WILDLY realistic given the amount of games we're going to need to play, the injury problems of others in that position in our pool, the lack of first team professional experience of the other "prospects" (and yes, guys like Konrad and Ledezma are still youth prospects)...

...causes such controversy on this site and gets a page full of posts about how much people hate Arriola.

Y'all need to look past calling in random guys who have "upsaide" and grasp that there is a time to experiment and a time to get a result.

WCQ/competitive game = get a result.
Friendly = time to experiment.

This is a friendly with lots of fresh names/young prospects, and with the number of dual nationals GGG has called in and gotten into the program thus far... omg he has been killing it. Seriously... he has. And you guys would recognize that and give him credit if you were objectively looking at the rosters and what he has done.

But no... instead of looking at the positives that our program has experienced, and the new guys we have to look forward to seeing... the inclusion of Paul Arriola and Lletget spoils it all.

Seriously guys... come on now...

Your own words show why almost everyone on this board was upset with a Paul A call up. But going by your own prior criteria he shouldn't even be on a potential call up list. He played 21 mins this year, what did he do in those 21 mins that showed he deserved a call up?

And honest question what outside of run fast and have a good attitude did he do in his prior Nats appearances that has GB convinced this guys is a must for our program? Crossing the ball into the stands is not a good thing.

You point out there is a time for experimenting vs WCQ everyone on this sites agrees. This is a friendly against a crappy opponent. Paul A is a know player, he will not get better and if anything maybe worse since his injury-we dont know bc he only played 21 mins.

So if he is a must for us, then his call up is useless now, how about call up Caden Clark or some other MLS guy-

We do not need to cheer GB dumb decisions, thats not hate for Paul-I have said it before If I owned a club or was coach of an mls team I would want him on my team but this isnt club he cant not play at the Int level. I dont have paul, I wish him well in his club career but I do love the Nats and want to see them progress. And that means calling in players who can hang at this level-Paul has shown he can not-will he give effort yes, hustle yes, but the difference is we have skilled guys now who can do that plus have skill to complement the attitude.

As far as looking at the positives, you constantly are telling us(me) we are not good enough. Most of us on here are excited about the program when we see the talent we have emerging on this team, the number of guys we have playing overseas and thriving overseas. So not sure why you are so bothered that all of us see this as a wasted undeserved spot which would have been perfect for a youngster who played mins this yr in mls.

Got us the inside scoop. As much as I love soccer, when I get around these guys I'm like damn, soccer players are small people.

Going to see the ping pong rec league on Dec 9.

Yes a puzzling callup for sure. Ranks right there with Lletget from the last camp.

I think he was refferncing the skill level of the players not their size-he really thought it was college level.

However, D Dike is huge that guy is massive and held the ball up well--never got a shot off no one did but aaronson but he at least was a freaking beast guy is massive

lol no, I'm talking about when I see soccer players players in real time, I laugh at their size. But shit, on the field those dudes are fast as hell though.

For me Dike is size of what our soccer players should be. I was 235 lb before the pandemic but dropped to 199lb for boxing.

Still cool you were allowed to watch the practice ? Surprised more people weren't there.

Stadium is close by-I pulled around back where the practice fields are in an industrial area, if you are not a local you wouldnt know how to get back there. The fences are have black mesh around them but still see through.

I stood on top of my truck to watch over the mesh-a member of the coaching staff came up to me after about an hour and asked what I was doing-I said watching you guys practice. HE said you are not allowed too.

I said I love the team and was supporting the program and if he wanted to me to leave I would-he said appreciate the support you can stay just please done take video.

I had my camera out to take some pics-lol Jason Kries was about 3 ft from me didnt say a word-cool to watch but a little odd bc alot of the guys didnt do good with the drills and GB was on the field with his huge while board drawing plays-

From this group I bet Aaronson, Dike, and of course zimmerman will continue to get looks. Just saw that Soto was called into camp as well.

Thats some dedication bro but pretty cool story. Too bad you didn't film them playing like shit and sell it to TMZ sports. Damn, I wonder how many fans can attend the game? Wear the "Wheres Waldo" jersey so we can spot you in the crowd.

In soccer you need a long distance runners body type, not a weightlifer or an american football body type. Alot of muscle mass takes an incredible amount of oxygen to produce energy. If they all looked like 80's Swarzenegger they'd be out of gas and done in 20 mins.

Nice reporting, Bielsa style.

Nice to see Soto called in. Between himself, Dike and Akinola you'd hope one of them starts and we don't see Lletget as a false 9 again.

Read on Reddit Travian Sousa has premiere league clubs interested in him after being released by Hamburg for attitude problems. He's a LB and without ever seeing him play I already like him better than Sam vines.

They are letting 2,500 fans in. My son broke his leg skateboarding so we need to change our tickets to wheelchair area-They only allow you to buy 4 tickets, only problem my wife and I have 3 kids. So they said I need to call monday to see if I can get one more ticket-

I asked them how many tickets they had left and they said alot.

Once I get my seats squared away Ill let you all know the section: maybe I'll bring a Yanks Abroad sign lol

Went to watch again, it was a little better you could tell the guys were getting to know each other better or maybe their nerves were going away.

Effrin was playing well-he was playing right wing-was good on the ball-it just seems like no one can control the ball in the middle and stringing passes together has been a struggle. Soto was off doing solo drills during 8v8. Aaronson looked a little better.
