I also don't understand why Paul A got a nod. Coming back off a fairly recently ACL and just have memories of him sky-ing the ball into the nose bleed section when he takes a shot.

I am happy to see Duncan also. I think he could be a good defensive substitute, if we go up on a team 2-0. But it could be Araujo overtakes him next year.

I understand the sentiment about Paul A, and I think everyone, including Paul A., realistically knows he is not in the squad if this is a full international and everyone is healthy. But the one thing he brings that is invaluable is intensity and competitiveness. He will go balls out, even in training, which keeps everyone honest and hopefully raises the intensity of the squad.

McKenzie, Aaronsen, Bassett, and Alvarez are all legit prospects.

I don't think Alvarez can suit of for the game and Aaronson isn't ready IMO

I think Aaronson will prove you wrong. He's pretty good.

He would have to file a 1 time switch.

What's ready mean? Aside from the fact that Aaronsen will likely be getting minutes for RB Salzburg in the next 60 days or so, they are playing El Salvador or whoever. How can he not be ready for that?

Does he have to file a switch for a friendly?

I think he can only practice with the team but can't feature because he's provisionally cap-tied to Mexico. I think but not 100%

I don't think Aaronson is ready for the national team level just yet! I'll root for him though and for any player that bounces out of MLS. But like I said for a third time, if I see a bunch of long balls booted up the field from pressure, I'm flipping the channel to the Cartoon Network or will Hulu some Vikings episodes.

In speaking today GB indicated that Paul is looked at as a potential starter and they want to get him integrated back quickly-Im throwing the potential starter part in but when you say you need to get someone back into the team and your excited about that not sure what else to say.

This is the part where I look at it and say how does morris and now paul get called in after not playing. Why cant we treat Weah the same way? or anyone else for that matter. I am baffled by the call up but more dumbfounded that GB rates him so highly

Why he called up Paul Arriola, who only played 21 MLS minutes at the end of a nearly season-long injury

"With Paul, this is a guy that we were uncomfortable taking this much time off after surgery. To not make the playoffs, they were done at the end of October and to have that much time off wasn't good for his progression."

Berhalter on #DCU duo he called in:

Paul Arriola - "We thought it was crucial to get him in the camp. We see him as a big part of our program."

not sure what GB is thinking-we all thought he would be phased out but he did play 21 mins this yr and GB rates him, kind of silly.

It shows the lack of depth at right wing within MLS. Really what options are there in MLS that provides confidence?

Morris and Mueller and that's it.

I want to see Sabbi get a look at RW as a depth piece. He really gives up his body and plays all out. I also like how Sabbi get backs defensively. He has some limitations but I would take him over Paul A. Weah is still getting confidence back, I think Konrad needs more time, Reyna seems to be more of a ten.

Calling Morris a winger is a bit of a stretch.

As I have said in the past, Dest is perhaps our best winger and playing with Wingbacks frees up both Reyna and Pulisic to play a little towards the middle off the striker where they can potentially influence the game a bit more.

Steffen
Richards, Mckenzie, Brooks
Dest, Adams, Mckennie, Robinson
Reyna, Pulisic
Sargent/Nico/Soto

Ok, what progression is he talking about? Being able to cross the ball within the same zip code? Helping him get his coaches badges?

I can understand bringing him in as a practice player as he brings intensity, but if he sees him progressing as a player I don't see it either and he would be better served bringing in someone younger who may actually benefit more from this experience as a player.

I like Arriola, he gives 100% all the time and sometime that can be infectious. But at some point you also need the talent to go with it.

That is why I want to see Sabbi next camp. Goes all out and younger and more talented.

Caden Clark has shown more quality at 17 in half a dozen games than Arriola has in his career
