Wow, I have never even heard of this guy. He is the head coach of a Bundesliga team and everyone wants to talk about Jessie Marsh!!! I respect Marsh and what he has done but this guy . . . worked his way up the ladder the old fashioned way.

thx for posting-this guy need more press. For me here is the best part of what he said

The same goes for coaches. Finding the balance between installing their ideal system and making the best use of the players in the clubhouse is tricky. For Matarazzo, being flexible and evaluating well are key to this process.

"I think it's very complex," he said. "I don't come to the club saying 'This is the type of football that I want to play'. I come to the club with an idea of the strengths of the players, what they can and can't do.

"I have an idea of who I am, what I stand for, what my values are. And then I try to create a football that fits me as a coach and fits my players, and one that the club and fans can identify with. It's an organic process."

So Leipzig currently sitting 3rd just 2 points behind the leader Bayern after 13 games. To have his team playing this well having lead them to promotion last season. Wow, just can't get over how great this is. It truly is an amazing time to be a US soccer fan.

Pellegrino Matarazzo and VfB Stuttgart got their Bundesliga campaign off the ground on Saturday with a win over Mainz.
