Omar will be the most positive addition to the USMNT in 2013.

I know I'm in the minority....but I don't think Gonzo is the answer at CB...sure, he might be better than Goodson or maybe Boca but if where JK is headed with the high line and playing the ball across the back....I think he will be worked over by the former.

I agree his lack of speed really is not good for Klinsmanns high line. I think Besler is a better option to pair with Cameron. Besler is fast enough, and has a very good range of passing. Those are two necessary aspects for Klinsmann's high line, and Gonzo just isn't as good as Besler.

People will say Gonzo is dominant in the air. OK fair point, but so is Cameron. Besler for me is a better option who is also very good in the air as well at 6'1".

Both Besler and Gonzo will be called in for the January camp, so one would expect Klinsmann will have a better idea who is better suited for his high line/ passing Cb's.

I like Gonzo, I think he is a good Cb, but I think he is a back-up Cb for the Nats.

Not sure Besler or Omar will get the call. These guys are not sure to be in MLS next year since their contracts are up

I guess I'm blind.....because I don't think they are close to the top 20 in Europe. Their attacking players might be on level with some of the mid tier teams in some of the European leagues but that defense/keeping is not.

No, you're not blind. admsghs27 is clearly delirious after a Galaxy win. The Galaxy is my team too, but they wouldn't last a season in the EPL. Keane was great this year, but Beckham is 37; he's just not a top player. And let's face it, Donovan had a down year (BTW, Landy is my favorite US player of all time so Im not hating on him).
So, I'll give you 3 or 4 players on the entire roster - Keane and Juninho, Donovan depending on health, maybe Gonzo - good enough for to play in the EPL.

Sure Gonzo is dominant in the air.....that would help on set pieces but for the other 80+ minutes he would be a liability. He doesn't have the top-end speed or lateral quickness to be a quality CB in JK system. That alone is enough of a no for me without even taking into account his passing ability which isn't up to par either. I haven't seen a ton of Besler but from what I've seen he would be a better option than Gonzo. I still think that Gonzo and Besler both will be in the January camp despite their contracts...they could easily leave to whatever club after the camp if sold.
