The European season(s) kicked off this weekend and there were positives from Saturday's games for the Yanks Abroad....
Adams - DFB Polka - 90 min. & Man of the Match honors
Sargent - DFB Polka - 89 minutes & a goal
De La Fuente - Friendly - 1st American to play for Barca's 1st team. 45 min & nearly a goal (pulled back for offsides).
Ream - 200th appearance for Fulham.
Green - DFB Polka - Goal & Assist
Tillman - DFB Polka - 2 Assists
Nice to have our players back and performing.

McKennie got a start in Juventus friendly as well.

Sargent also got man of the match yesterday. Big upcoming season for him. Kohfeldt is showing confidence in Josh to start the year and he needs to make the most of that. Not too many 20 year old are getting ready for their third year in the bundesliga like Josh is (I know he got promoted halfway through the first year and has played 1.5, not 2 full seasons so far). It's been a quick rise for him the whole way through even if from afar it's frustrating if he doesn't start every game. I look forward to the days when gets to play with his crew from the USA.

It finally seems like we've gotten past the point where playing first team will get you on the field. There are a lot of players available so it's now becoming "what have you done lately." And that's not a bad thing it shows depth across the board.... except for our defense where Aaron long is still projected after a so-so (to put it mildly) year and half. Ream and Brooks will stay in the picture no matter how many red cards, mistakes and mental lapses they have. That's why I'm looking for EPB and Richards to step up this year and show Berhalter there are options besides the three guys I just mentioned.

Green's goal is very similar. Boyd was bent over & around the defense while Green's was low and to the corner. Both excellent examples of cutting inside and hitting the shot.

Jesse Marsch has claimed a personal accolade as he's been named Coach of the Year in Austria.
