Hate to break it to everybody but Zardes is still definitely in the USMNT equation. Dude has two good goals tonight. And looks in really good form. This the Zardes I enjoy watching.
I'm Betting on Columbus from the East. They stay healthy and I could see them winning this tournament and pushing on when the full season resumes.

This isn't new news, I've been saying this since the beginning... but of course, stating the obvious causes people's heads to explode and leads to cries of fanboyism and having some sort of MLS agenda, etc.
The harsh reality is that hes one of the best we've got. Hes been the most consistent forward we've had over the last few years. Am I sayin he is our best? No. Am I saying I would start him? No.
But he is in the conversation for the 23 whether we like it or not. However, simply bringing up and stating the wildly obvious is controversial on this website...

I have said it many times-for me, if I was an MLS coach I would pick Zardes any day of the week to be on my team-he would be a gaur starter.
However, with the talent we have-he does not translate over to be the best fit for the Nats-he has a super heavy touch and does not combine well--imagine CP, Reyna, Dest ULI trying tight give an goes with him it wouldnt work.
Some guys are great for club and not so much for Int, I would rather have Morris up top than Zardes

100% agree, but that's not the point I'm making.
Hes earned his right to be in the conversation based on how he has consistently produced at the club level. It should be no surprise when he gets called up to the national team... especially given the horrible state of our forward pool.
This isn't a theoretical debate I'm making. I'm pointing out the reality of our current situation.

It doesn't matter how many goals he scores for the Crew. He can't play at the international level. He shouldn't be called in.

Akinola scores a pretty goal. Think he has a chance for Olympic qualifying whenever that happens

Yeah, totally understand your opinion, and I feel fairly similar... but to be clear I am not attempting to advocate for his inclusion. I am pointing out the reality of our situation.
Even simply mentioning Zardes, people get up in arms... when the reality is that nobody is consistently doing what he is doing at club level. So its no wonder why he keeps getting called in. Thats not exactly a compliment towards Zardes I'm making... thats more of a knock against our pool. I get the arguments for and against completely... but this is just how things are shaping up at the moment until other guys in the pool start producing.
So when the next camp comes around and Berhalter releases his roster, and Zardes (assuming he isn't injured) gets called in... I'm going to point my finger and say "I told you so".
Ayo Akinola with a brace today. I wonder if he becomes Toronto's first choice striker over Jozy? I forgot about Ayo, but he is one to watch out for as a striker for the USMNT going into the future.

Zardes second goal was nice but MLS defending is garbage.. I think Zlatan only has only two goals with AC Milan so far. But yeah our forward pool is weak right now.

Zalatan had played in 10 matches started (8) and has 5 goals and 3 assist.

Also he scored about a goal per appearance in MLS and pretty much for his whole career. So he scored in MLS at the same rate he scored for every other team he played for and it's pretty close for Milan with a small sample size. Not sure the evidence backs up what your saying there blaise.
