Recently was announced Reyna will be traveling with the first team here to the US for Dortmund's preseason. Astute move for Dortmund. Bring the American and if he plays well then a win win for the club with getting his face out with the US fans.

Also he recently scored a goal for their U19s.

That's cool. I'm pretty sure I had him in my starting line up I posted 2 days ago for the next friendly

To be honest Reyna reminds me a lot of a young KaKa.

if pulisic has a guy on this team that can pick players out like kaka did then were scary... imagine if reyna gets first team minutes this year at an even younger age than pulisic

I've always thought the better teams push more attacking players farther back. For example they make wingers into defensive backs, #8 guys into a 6, ball playing CDMs turned into CBs etc, etc.

The USA has historically done the opposite (even now with Roldan being pushed into the attack, or even McKennie playing as a "dual 10"), the example with Jones, Bradley and Bedoya as our attacking 3 ahead of Beckerman, and on and on and on.

Reyna supposedly is an attacking player without a position. Rather than push him up as a 9 or 10 or winger, I'd like to see him pushed farther back like an 8. More skill and vision to see a pass is what the USA needs. Dortmund develop players, and sure if he turns out to be better farther forward that's great... but I'd like to see him played a little bit deeper at first and see if he can handle the defensive side. It would really change the way USA can play if our CMs were more skilled players.

When watching him with the U17's he was far and away better as a winger, centrally he just didn't do as much and he was so much more dangerous wide. It will definitely be interesting to see how he develops and what position works for him for club and country.

To be honest I won't be surprised if Dortmund turn him into a number 9. He is already 6'1"

This is what I mean... we all have opinions but fortunately he is at BvB, where they take player development seriously as the players are developed for the first team, not like EPB at Man City (is there really a plan for him?). Dortmund will find Reyna's best spot wherever that may be because it's in their interest to do so.

Honestly I'm very high on this kid, haven't been this high on a US player since I saw Pulisic with the U17s paired with Haji Wright. He's in the perfect spot to develop with the perfect family soccer tradition. His ceiling is honestly very high and he's very underrated by a lot of people. If he keeps his head down, works hard, and stays humble he could be the best soccer player the US has ever produced.

Someone else said Kaka and I like that. He reminds me with his size and skill of a young Michael Ballack.

Reyna replaced Hazard today after Hazard picked up an injury. If he's hurt for an extended period, it could allow him to stay with the first team for a bit, particularly with the early cup matches.

He skied balls badly in the highlights I watched today. I didn't see a striker position in his future.
