yea not playing today was pretty concerning for me... still a good young player but that's pretty annoying with the timing...

Read that earlier. It is understandable. Hard for any American to feel comfortable in that region at this moment.

very impressive video - hard to believe that someone can be that creative in heavy traffic. His moves are unbelievable. what is his upside clubwise? where will he be in two years? And will he still be on defense or would he be better off moving forward?

Sky's the limits. AJAX is known for developing quality players. Bayern Munich has already made an offer for Dest. Would not be surprised if he isn't on multiple clubs wish list... But even if he stays with Ajax, he'll still be playing for a big club and getting UEFA Champions League experience.

Depends on what options there are within the squad he's playing for. With the way outside backs are used in today's game it's important to have a technically gifted player who can combine will with those in front of them as they overlap.
As far as the USMNT goes i hope he stays in defense considering the options we have emerging as wingers...Pulisic, Reyna, Weah, Llanez. With Dest & A. Robinson/Cannon/Yedlin working behind our wingers and overlapping the USMNT should have a very creative & dynamic attack.

Which of the two clubs (Barca or Bayern) should he go to? Barca is a total mess but he gets to play with Messi and for a manager who believes in him. I'm hoping for Barcelona.... but Bayern or even staying at Ajax somehow aren't bad fallbacks at all. What a time to be a USA fan.

Will they be buying him as a fullback or a winger? Not that there will be much of a difference as both clubs usually dominate their domestic opponents, but I still think he needs to improve a bit as a defender. In this regard I think going to Bayern Munich might be the better option.

Well Barcelona sold Semedo to Wolves so they clearly are in the market for an outside back. Given Koeman is in charge, he will know Dest so I would say they are in pole position to sign him.

Both are amazing opportunities and I see him being successful at either club. Personally I think he would have an easier time adjusting at Munich, However easier is not always better.

I still like:

Robinson as LB
Dest at RB (been calling on this for a year now)

Defensively he isn't, but his pace and offensive game are what he is measured on and it is why teams like Barcelona and Bayern Munich are anxious to buy him.
